Safety Information Safety Information Mechanical Hazards When operating the wallPen, there is a risk of unprotected parts moving in a controlled manner. During operation, the wallPen printer must always be protected against unauthorized access and well monitored. The emergency stop switch must be freely accessible at all times! The wallPen must always be secured and monitored during operation.
The wallPen printer is only suitable for UV ink from the manufacturer. Printheads are very sensitive devices. Do not use any other ink than original wallPen ink. The use of other ink does not guarantee a proper functionality of the printer and will void any warranties.

Color Models Like most offset, laser and inkjet printers, finally the wallPen requires CMYK colors to work on. But why? Let's take a closer look at the differences between the two most common colour models "RGB" and "CMYK" to better understand the fundamental reason for most printers using CMYK and most monitors using RGB...
Page 88
But what about printers? Printers are usually expected to print on a white (or at least a light) background, so an additive color model like RGB would not work out and meaningful results are not possible. wallPen E2 | User Manual...
Page 92
However, in practice many color tones that are displayed are only be close to the target and the image becomes a compromise! wallPen E2 | User Manual...
A seemingly logical correction at first glance by reducing the intensity in the wallPen Processor fades the image not only in the midtones, but overall. It is better to either leave the correction to a suitable ICC profile or to do it "manually" in a software like Photoshop.
Ink System Ink System and Air The wallPen Ink System has been specially designed to ensure the most reliable ink supply in the tightest of spaces while making the ink refill as easy as possible. Anyway, ink supply has generally one main enemy: AIR ! If there are air bubbles in the pipe system, the failure of one or more nozzles is very likely.
Page 101
Printhead Unit Treatment before each new print job If the wallPen is not used for some time, if air pressure changes considerably or if the print head unit is shaken during transport, even small amounts of air may pass through the nozzles into the ink system.
Therefore, it is very important to keep air away from the printheads. The wallPen E2 uses aluminum bags as tanks, which can be refilled cleanly and quickly from bottles at the back of the printhead housing.
The system must be greased after a running distance of 2000 km or after 12 months - whatever comes first - to avoid abrasion and friction and to ensure smooth running. Only use the grease supplied by wallPen and the grease gun supplied.
The optimum tension is reached when the frequency is about 208 Hz. If the belt is significantly too tight, the motor bearing can be damaged over time. If the belt tension is too low, the entire platform may have some play and the print results may be negatively affected. wallPen E2 | User Manual...
9.1.5 Vertical Axis Brake Release The wallPen E2 is equipped with a high-quality motor brake on the vertical drive. In the de-energized state, the brake is closed, so it blocks the motor. This prevents the entire slide unit, including the print head, from falling down in the event of a power failure, possibly causing lasting damage or even injury.
Calibration Calibration The wallPen E2 uses four (optionally expected to be available from Q4/2021 five) single printheads to print colors CMYK (W). Since these printheads are mounted separately and they must be calibrated to each other in order to achieve optimum printing results.
Page 112
Make sure "ICC color transformation" is disabled, process the image, copy the according ".wallpen" file onto a flash drive and load it on your wallPen printer. Prepare to print the processed file onto a smooth, white surface, best to use a blank paper sheet.

+/- 30 pixels at 300 DPI for Magenta (D), Yellow (E) and Key (F). The lateral offsets are entered in the wallPen Processor Preset as they are read from the calibration image. Cyan should always be set to 0 as a reference and the values in the scale for magenta, yellow and key should be entered accordingly.

A big advantage of UV printing is the wide range of substrates that can be printed without problems. The wallPen UV ink is also particularly suitable for indoor printing, which, according to the manufacturer, contains hardly any chemical plasticizers and is therefore unlikely to evaporate.
Miscellaneous 10.2 wallPen Glass Magic When to use Glass Magic? wallPen Glass Magic is used on smooth, non-absorbent surfaces such as glass or some ceramic tiles. What does Glass Magic? wallPen Glass Magic destroys the oxygen layer on surfaces. This creates the optimal basis for UV inks to bond firmly and permanently to the substrate.
Page 125
A simple and effective way to remove the UV ink applied to a smooth surface with wallPen Glass Magic is to use a ceramic field scraper or conventional razor blade. When using solvents, there is a risk that the dissolved UV ink will smear, making it even more difficult to remove the ink without leaving a residue.
