    Kohler Engine Documents IMPORTANT: This manual contains the basic information required to operate, main- tain and repair the CIMLINE PCR30 you have purchased. The use of this manual in- sures accurate adjustments, operation and proper lubrication of your equipment. Please keep it handy.

    Safety Notes PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND ENTIRE OPERATORS MANUAL BEFORE PROCEEDING WARNING: Protective clothing must be worn. Refer to ANSI Regulations: Wear long pants. 2) Wear heavy leather boots or shoes. 3) Wear a protective faceshield. 4) Wear a respirator. 5) Wear ear protection.

    Controls and Their Functions Choke knob - refer to starting instructions on pages 12 & 13. Throttle - refer to starting instructions on pages 12 & 13. Ignition switch - refer to starting instructions on pages 12 & 13. Lifting brackets - Both lifting rings are needed for hoisting router. Be sure strap or chain used to hoist this machine has a minimum rating of 2000 pounds (1 ton).

    Operating Sequence The PCR router is operated by manually guiding the machine while walking backwards. Don't force the machine through the crack while routing. The routing operation itself will move the machine. If the router starts to move too fast, simply push down on the handle and let the router ride on the skid plate.
  • Page 9: Depth Control Use And Adjustments

    Depth Control Use and Adjustments The router is raised and lowered by a 12 VDC ball screw actuator. No maintenance is required or recommended. The clutch mechanism is designed to ratchet when the unit is jammed at the end of the stroke. Avoiding this situation will greatly extend the life of your unit. The switch to raise or lower the router is located on the right side of the handle as shown in the picture.

    Router Bit Mounting Instructions WARNING: Make sure the engine is shut off , the drum has stopped spin ning before and the router is securely placed on the nose before attempting to rotate the skid mount. To access router bits: 1) Remove bolt (A).
  • Page 11 NOTE: Refer to the diagram on the previous page to see what direction the router bits should be mounted. The bit should be installed so the cutting edge contacts the ground first with the drum rotating in a counter clockwise direction from the view shown.

    Starting the Engine NOTE: Read the engine instr uction manual befor e star ting. WARNING: Be sur e r outer bits ar e unobstr ucted and not r esting on the gr ound. WARNING: Be sure hands and feet are clear of the router. The PCR router is equipped with a 30 H.P.
  • Page 13 Starting the Engine NOTE: Upon start up a metallic ticking may occur. This is caused by the hydrau- lic lifter leak down during storage. Run the engine for 5 minutes. The noise will normally cease in the first minute. If noise continues, run the engine at mid throttle for 20 minutes. If noise persists, take the engine to your local Kohler Service Outlet.
  • Page 14 Mainteance WARNING: Do not inspect when engine is running. Engine: The operation and life of the engine depends on you and your operator. Do not start engine until the engine precheck is complete. The engine precheck con- sists of checking the oil, the fuel level, the air filter and greasing all grease points. The gasoline powered PCR-30 router is equipped with a Kohler 30 H.P.

    The dimensions listed should be maintained when installing a new drum. The 2-1/2" spacing is for use with the 5" long Cimline router pins. NOTE: The pins must be inserted before tightening bushings to insure the two drums are in alignment.
  • Page 18 Brake Adjustment To adjust the brake arms, raise the router using the actuator to the highest point and rest on the rear skid as shown. Loosen the dual set collar (A) and the spring tension ear (B) so that the brake arms (C) pivot independent of each other.
