2. Do not a l l o w c h i l d r e n to operate p o w e r e d e q u i p -
ment at a n y t i m e . T h e a v e r a g e c h i l d i s not capable of
coping w i t h the i n t r i c a c i e s of o p e r a t i n g a p o w e r t o o l .
3. B e s u r e you know how to stop the m o w e r and engine
q u i c k l y , i n case a c h i l d , p e r s o n , pet o r object suddenly
a p p e a r s i n the path of o r d a n g e r o u s l y c l o s e to u n i t .
4. B e f o r e u s i n g m o w e r , c l e a r the e n t i r e lawn a r e a of
a l l d e b r i s that c o u l d be t h r o w n b y the b l a d e . D e b r i s
can be e j e c t e d at h i g h v e l o c i t y out of the d i s c h a r g e
chute c a u s i n g i n j u r y to p e r s o n s o r pets and damage
to o b j e c t s the d e b r i s w o u l d s t r i k e .
5. W h e n y o u m o w o n r o u g h t e r r a i n , i n high g r a s s ,
the m o w e r s h o u l d be s e t at the highest cutting l e v e l
to m i n i m i z e p o s s i b l e e j e c t i o n of d e b r i s .
6. M o w o n l y d u r i n g daylight h o u r s . If y o u m o w e d
a f t e r sundown y o u w o u l d be unable to see any object
a c c i d e n t a l l y left o n the l a w n . A r t i f i c i a l l i g h t i n g a l s o
w o u l d not i l l u m i n a t e the a r e a , to be mowed, p r o p e r l y .
7. B e a l e r t a t a l l t i m e s . G i v e complete and u n d i v i d e d
attention to the j o b you a r e doing. T h i s w i l l m i n i m i z e
the p o s s i b i l i t y of getting into dangerous s i t u a t i o n s .
8. N o p e r s o n s s h o u l d be a l l o w e d i n o r near w o r k i n g
a r e a when m o w e r i s b e i n g u s e d , p a r t i c u l a r l y s m a l l
c h i l d r e n . T h i s w i l l m i n i m i z e the p o s s i b i l i t y of o t h e r
p e r s o n s o r c h i l d r e n b e i n g i n j u r e d b y the m o w e r o r
d e b r i s e j e c t e d b y the m o w e r .
9. Disengage m o w e r a n d stop the engine whenever
you l e a v e the t r a c t o r . T h i s w i l l help prevent r u n
aways and/or i n j u r y to c h i l d r e n o r another p e r s o n .
10. W h e n o p e r a t i n g o v e r uneven t e r r a i n and s l o p e s
use e x t r e m e c a r e and m a k e s u r e of s o l i d f i r m footing
at a l l t i m e s . T h i s w i l l help prevent both the o p e r a t o r
f r o m b e i n g t h r o w n f r o m unit o r the unit being upset
a c c i d e n t a l l y .
11. U s e s p e c i a l c a r e when m o w i n g n e a r objects to
p r e v e n t the b l a d e s f r o m s t r i k i n g t h e m , a s s e v e r e
damage c o u l d r e s u l t ,
12. Stop the t r a c t o r and disengage m o w e r when any
o t h e r p e r s o n a p p r o a c h e s . Do not y o u r s e l f o r let anyone
e l s e p a s s o r s t a n d o n the g r a s s d i s c h a r g e side of the
m o w e r w i t h the engine r u n n i n g . O b j e c t s s u c h a s w i r e ,
s t i c k s , s t o n e s , s m a l l toys and e t c . c a n be ejected at
h i g h v e l o c i t y out of the d i s c h a r g e chute.
13. D o not c a r r y p a s s e n g e r s . T h e p a s s e n g e r s c o u l d
f a l l off u n i t r e c e i v i n g i n j u r i e s .
14. E n g i n e m u s t be stopped and s p a r k plug w i r e d i s -
connected b e f o r e a d j u s t i n g m o w e r , o r changing a t t a c h -
m e n t s . A g a s o l i n e engine c a n be s t a r t e d i f the blade
