    AP8616B GPON OLT Chapter 2 Installation Preparation 2.1 Cautions Similar to other electronic products, the semiconductor chip easily gets damaged if you power on and off abruptly and frequently. To restart up the AP8616B GPON, you have to open the power on-off after the power is turned off for three to five seconds.

    AP8616B GPON OLT 3.2.2 Installing the Machine Box on the Cabinet The machine box of AP8616B GPON is fixed on the cabinet through the brackets. When you fix the brackets, the front panel of AP8616B GPON faces forward. The detailed operations are shown in Figure 3-2. Therefore, you must set the option data flow control to none when you configure AP8616B GPON with the super terminal.
  • Page 13 AP8616B GPON OLT 3.3.2 Connecting the GPON SFP Port AP8616B GPON has 8 GPON SFP ports. The indicators lie in the right side of these ports, indicating the LINK/ACT state. They are used to connect the GPON access devices and other ONUs. A single-mode SC optical fiber and a GPON optical module are needed for connect AP8616B GPON and other ONUs.
  • Page 14 AP8616B GPON OLT 3.3.4 Connecting Gigabit Ethernet TX Port AP8616B GPON provides 4 fixed gigabit SFP/TX combo ports (G1 to G4). The indicators lie in the right side of these ports, indicating the LINK/ACT state. When the TX ports (G1 to G4) are used, the corresponding optical port cannot be used. Figure 3-9 Connecting the 1000M TX port and other devices To use the TX port, you can connect the TX port and other Ethernet devices with the direct-through or cross cable through the UTP port of the GPON access device.
