1. INTRODUCTION
The Deltronic FHN600 Relay base is designed to replace the
baseplate supplied with the ACX11 and the ACH11 ranges of mains
powered smoke and heat alarms. When assembled to either a
smoke or heat alarm, it allows all connected alarms to activate door
releases, remote sounders, flashing beacons or signal central warn-
ing panels and call systems. It does this by receiving a digital signal
from the alarms interlink feature and using it to power a single pole
changeover relay which in turn can be used to switch connected
devices on or off.
Important Note: The relay will NOT operate if the 230 volt AC
power supply is lost for a too long period of time or if the backup
battery is totally discharged! The battery also need to be switched
on during installation to support power failure!
2. INSTALLATION
Warning! This device and any connected alarms should be
installed by a qualified electrician.
Install the relay base instead of a smoke or heat alarms original
mounting plate. Ensure all connected circuits, and those intended
for use, are disconnected from the mains power supply before
installation. Interconnect terminals and circuits are not to be acces-
sible and must only ever run to other Interconnect terminals.
Warning: Do not use the interconnect circuit to directly switch
other devices without correctly using the relay base. Do not use
it to connect to alarms with other brand names or made by other
manufacturers.
The power supply should be from the same supply used for the
connected alarms in the circuit AND should be from one of the
following two sources:
a. An independent circuit at the dwellings main distribution board
with no other electrical equipment connected (other than a dedi-
cated supply failure monitoring device) or:
b. A separately electrically protected and regularly used local
lighting circuit.
Warning: All connected alarms and relay bases should be supplied
from the same fuse or circuit breaker.
Only suitably approved cabling should be used. The alarms and
relay bases should be wired using a minimum of 1 mm
; with

the Brown or Black to Live (L), Blue to neutral (N) and White to
Interlink (I). All alarm circuits should be protected by a 6 amp over
current device. The maximum total length of wiring should not ex-
ceed 250m. Mini-trunking systems can be used via the removable
blank shown in Fig. 1 below.

WARNING: Ensure the power supplies are turned off before
installing this relay base!
Switch on the relay base backup battery
Gently remove the thin base plate from underneath the relay
base to expose the circuit board. Switch the device on and refit
the base plate, Fig. 2 below. The led will begin to flash red every
minute, this is normal, until mains power is turned on.

1. The FHN600 Relay will be activated when a device in the system
is sending an alarm or the interlink is tested between the devices,
the way the relay operates can be configured by the three position
switch on the side of the alarm as shown in Fig. 3 below.
Fig. 3
• Normal (N): Latch when an alarm is active or pulse for 20 second
when tested.
• Long (L): Latch until reset, when an alarm in the system is active
or tested. To unlatch the relay, switch the latch type switch to
the (S) position and wait for at least 20 seconds before you turn
it back to the (L) position.
• Short (S): pulse for 500ms every minute while an alarm is active
or once when tested.
2. Using the fixings supplied and attach the relay base to the
desired position.
3. Connect the mains supply and interlink wires to the connectors
- Brown or Black to Live (L), Blue to neutral (N) and the White to
Interlink (I). If a earth wire is present (not needed) be sure to sleeve
the bare earth wire and terminate it at the designated position. The
LED will be switch to green when mains power is on.
4. Connect the wires from the remote device (the one to be
switched on or off) to the relay connector shown in Fig. 4 below, ie:
the device supply wire to COM and the wire to be switched on or
off to either NO or NC. NO (normally open) means the supply to the
remote device will normally be switched off; NC (normally closed)
means it will normally be switched on.

Deltronic alarms from the ACX11 or ACH11 range can now be in-
stalled directly onto the relay base using the instructions supplied
with them. Please discard the mounting plate supplied with the
alarm at the municipal designated station for electronic waste.
3. HOW T O T E S T
Once powered with mains, ensure the LED is lit permanently green.
If the mains power is disconnected the relay socket will flash red
once per minute. Now press on any test button to test individual
ON
alarms and press again immediately after the alarm sounds stops,
to test all interlinked devices, this will operate the relay socket
along with the other remotely connected devices in the system,
according to your previous installation.
Important: When testing for relay operation, a single press of the
test button will not cause the relay to operate, a second press
after the alarm sounds stops will activate the interlinked devices
and activate the relay base.
