This user manual (710-19981-00A) is compatible with WSIQ soft starters using parameter
list version 20.x.

    Digital Input Smart Card Overview Overview Operation The digital input smart card provides an additional eight digital inputs, allowing the starter to connect to external devices for protection and control. The smart card can trip, start or stop the starter in response to the state of the digital inputs. The starter’s response can be individually selected for each input.

    Installation Digital Input Smart Card Installation Installing the Expansion Card 1. Push a small flat-bladed screwdriver into the slot in the centre of the expansion port cover, and ease the cover away from the starter. 2. Line up the card with the expansion port. Gently push the card along the guide rails until it clicks into the starter.

    Digital Input Smart Card Configuration Configuration Input type (normally open/normally closed) The default state of each input can be selected via DIP switches on the smart card, or via the parameters in the soft starter. The default setting for all inputs is software selection and disabled.

  • Page 8 Configuration Digital Input Smart Card Customise the input name The name associated with each input can be customised. The input name is used in the event log, and is displayed on the keypad if the input trips the starter. Custom names must be loaded into the soft starter via the USB port, using a plain text (.txt) file.
  • Page 9 Digital Input Smart Card Configuration Soft Starter Programmable Parameters Operating parameters for the smart card are set and stored in the soft starter. Parameters can be configured via the main menu, or uploaded using the USB Save & Load function. For details on how to configure the soft starter, refer to the soft starter user manual.

The smart card will only send a start command if the starter is in ready state. If the starter is not ready when the input activates, but changes to ready while the input is still active, the start command will be sent.
