Elevating the groundbreaking optical compression of the original Philosopher’s Tone to a new plane of tonal enlightenment, the Philosopher’s Tone 2 is a world-class compressor/sustainer with footswitchable Grit, allowing for more versatility than ever before. Featuring a refined implementation of the overdrive circuit first heard in the limited-edition Gold version of this iconic compressor pedal, the unique germanium distortion found in the Philosopher’s Tone 2 delivers smooth top end and rich midrange response, tailored to perfectly match the characteristics of the optical sustainer driving it.
- Page 4 EXPLANATION OF CONTROLS Footswitches Engage: Press to engage the Compressor. When turned off, this switch provides True Bypass for the entire unit. Grit: Press to turn on the Overdrive stage located after the compressor section. Knobs Volume: Sets the overall output volume. Blend: Mixes your compressed effect with your clean signal.
- Page 5 Sustain: Sets the amount of sustain. Grit: Controls the gain of the overdrive stage. Note: This control is only active when the Grit footswitch is turned ON. Treble: Boosts or cuts treble at 2kHz. Rocker Switch Si/Ge: Selects between the linear silicon diode clipping of the original Philosopher’s Tone and the non-linear, germanium diode clipping of the Philosopher’s Gold version.
- Page 6 If your product is destroyed, lost or damaged beyond repair while in the possession of Pigtronix for repair, Pigtronix will replace that product with one of the same or most similar style of a value not in excess of the original purchase price of your pedal. Any insurance covering the pedal, including but not limited to collector’s value insurance, must be carried by you at your expense.
