HomeGlide Stairlift - User Manual - Description OpTiOnal fEaTUrEs 3.4.1 HingEd rail (HOMEglidE ClassiC / HOMEglidE ExTra) The hinged rail is a section of the rail at the bottom of the staircase that will automatically lower and raise when the stairlift is operated. The hinged rail is a useful feature in situations where there is an obstruction (doorways) or where the protrusion of the foot of the rail can cause a tripping hazard (passageways).
