Ribbon
Cassette Replacement
Card Holder
Printwheel
The
Scripter II
is
equipped
with
a high
yield
black
correctable
typewriter
ribbon
cassette.
Replacement
part
number is
013045.
Turn the typewriter OFF.
Open
the top cover and
gently
grasp
the ribbon cassette.
Lift
up and forward
to remove the
ribbon cassette.
Take the new ribbon
and remove the plastic shipping brake.
Turn
the
Ribbon
Take-Up Knob counter clockwise to remove any slack in
the
ribbon.
Insert the two projections on the
rear
of the
ribbon
cassette into the two holes in the
ribbon
cassette
holder.
Carefully
lower
the
front
portion of the cassette so
that the ribbon is located between the card holder
and the printwheel. Press on the locations
marked
(A)
until
the ribbon cassette snaps into place. Turn the
Ribbon Take-Up Knob counter clockwise
until
there is
no slack in the
ribbon.
Close the top
cover
and turn
ON
the
typewriter.
Correction
Tape
Replacement
The Scripter II is
equipped with a lift-off
tape to erase and

correct mistakes. The
take-up spool is the one
with
the knob and is
mounted
on
the left
spindle of the
printhead
.

Turn
the typewriter OFF. Open the top cover and
remove
the
ri
bbon cassete. Using both hands,
grasp
both
spools of the correction tape
and
pull
away from the printer
head.
Unpack the correction tape and hold the two
spools
in
each
hand
. Insert the tape behind the
correction
tape guide and the printwheel as shown
above.
Make sure that the powdered side of the
correction tape is facing the card holder.

Mount
the spool holding the bulk of the correction tape
onto the spindle
on
the right side. Mount the left
spool
(with the knob) onto the left spindle.
Turn the left spool to the left and wind up the colored
portion of the
tape.
Make sure
that
the correction tape
passes behind both the left and right tape guides.
Replace the
ribbon
cassette and c lose the top
cover.
Turn
ON
the typewriter.
Printwheel
Replacement
The Scripter
II
comes with
a Prestige Pica 10
printwheel. Replacement
part number is 013064.

Printwheel Release

Print Head
Turn the typewriter OFF.
Open
the top
cover
and remove the ribbon cassete. Pull the
printwheel's Set and Release Lever back to
unlock the
pri
ntwheel. Gently grasp the edge
of the printwheel and lift it away
from
the print
head.

Gently grasp the edge of the printwheel and carefu lly lower
it between the card
holder
and the print head. Be sure
that
the c haracters face away from you.
Press the printwheel's Set/Reset Lever forward
until
it snaps
into place. Turn
the
typewriter
ON.
The printwheel will
reset itself. Once it
stops,
replace the ribbon c assette and
close the top
cover.
If the
typewriter
fails to function or does not function
properly,
check the following:
1.
Is the
typewriter
plugged into a live

outlet?
2.
Is
the typewriter switched on?
3.
Is the printwheel properly installed?
4.
Are the ri bbon cassette
and
the
correction
tape properly installed?
5.
Does the ribbon cassete or the correction tape need replacing?
6.
Are
the carrier stopper
or
ribbon
stopper
pieces removed?
