Ensure that when inserting the connector, the cable is properly aligned so that its red dot (see picture below) is in line with the female connector notch.

The interface cable supplied with the InfraRed Short-Range 940nm illuminator has a straight connection. Pin1 to Pin1, Pin2 to Pin2, etc. One cable end has a 7 pin, which is floating.
