Installation Instructions
CIRCUIT BREAKER PREPARATION
A. Before mounting breaker onto connect-all, turn off and
lock out all power to prevent incidental or accidental con-
tact during the installation.
B. Make sure that the device is suitable for the installation
by comparing nameplate ratings with system require-
ments. Inspect the device for completeness and check for
any damage before mounting.
NOTE: Trip Unit and Accessory installation should be
complete before the circuit breaker is mounted
and connected. (See installation instructions
supplied with Trip Unit and Accessory before
proceeding.)
C. Make sure the device is in the tripped or off position. For
circuit breakers, depress the red trip button (see Fig. 1, 2,
& 3) or turn breaker off.
NOTE: Molded case switches do not have a Push-To-
Trip button.
CIRCUIT BREAKER MANUAL OPERATION
Manual operation of the circuit breaker is controlled by the
circuit breaker handle and the Push-To-Trip button. The cir-
cuit breaker handle has three indicating positions, two of
which are molded into the handle to indicate ON and OFF.
The third position indicates a TRIP position and is between
ON and OFF positions. (See Fig. 1)
A. Circuit Breaker Reset
After tripping, the circuit breaker is reset by moving the
circuit breaker handle to the reset position and then mov-
ing the handle to the ON position.
NOTE: In the event of a thermal trip, the circuit breaker
cannot be reset until the thermal element cools.
B. Push-To-Trip Button
The Push-To-Trip button checks the tripping function and
is used to manually exercise the operating mechanism.
MOUNTING OF BREAKER ONTO CONNECT-ALL ASSEMBLY
A. Remove the load and line terminal shields (D, Fig. 2 & 3)
by loosening the two terminal shield screws (E, Fig. 2 &
3). Also remove end plates (J, Fig. 2 & 3).
B. Place breaker onto protruding connect-all terminals and
fasten breaker to molded mounting base with four slotted
fillister head 3/8-16 x 1-3/4 long screws, washers, and
lockwashers (G, Fig. 2 & 3). Tighten mounting screws to
a torque of 5 to 6 ft- lbs.[6.8-8.13 N-m]
C. Fasten breaker terminal to connect-all terminals with two
hex head 3/8-16 x 1-3/4" long copper alloy bolts, wash-
ers and lock washers (F, Fig. 2 & 3) and heatsink* (H, Fig.
2 & 3) per terminal. Tighten these bolts to a torque of 9 to
10 ft- lbs.[12.2-13.6 N-m] *(Heatsink is only required on
PD frame breakers with "H" suffix and all RD frame break-
ers)
D. Replace all end plates (J, Fig. 2 & 3) and line and load
terminal shields (D, Fig. 2 & 3). Tighten terminal shield
screws securely.

Revise minuciosamente el interruptor y verifique que no existe
ningun daño antes de instalarlo.
C. El interruptor debe estar en la posicion "disparado" o en
posición "fuera", al instalarse.
D. Para la instalación del interruptor favor de considerar lo
siguiente.
1. Para gabinetes individuales, tableros de distribución, tableros
de maniobra u otros autorizados por Siemens.
2. Para aquellos casos donde el montaje es sobre una
superficie plana, como usualmente es en estos equipos,
perforar y roscar de acuerado a los
diagramas de la fig. 2.
3. Si el interruptor contiene accesorios, cerciórese que las
terminales puedan conectarse cuando el interruptor este
instalado.
4. Colocar el interruptor sobre la superficie de montaje.
5. Después de instalado el interruptor, debe conectarse la línea
de alimentación y la línea de carga así como las terminales de
los assesorios.
Nota: Cuando se utilizan conductores de aluminio, se
recomienda efectuar la junta adecuada para evitar la
posibilidad de sobrecalentamiento de la terminan.
6. Después de que el interruptor esté instalado, revise todos los
elementos de conexión. Revise los conectores de cables y
observe el adecuado par de apriete, los de la línea y de la
carga, indicado en la placa de características del
interruptor.
4 Operación manual.
La operación del interruptor se efectúa por medio de la manija y
con el botón pulsador "trip". La manija del interruptor tiene 3
posiciones, 2 de las cuales están moldeadas dentro de la manija del
interruptor e indican "ON" conectado y "OFF"desconectado, la
posición "trip" disparo se encuentra entre la posición "ON" y
"OFF".
A. Restablecer. Después de un disparo del interruptor debe ser
restablecido, accionando la manija totalmente hacia abajo, llevando
después la manija hacia la posición de conectado "ON".
Nota: En el caso de un disparo por sobrecarga (térmico) no podrá
serrestablecido, sino hasta que se enfríen los elementos térmicos.
B. Botón pulsador, para disparar púlsese el botón de disparo
"trip" para verificar la función de disparo y del mecanismo de
operación.
5 Revisión y prueba de campo
Los interruptores PD y RD están previstos desde su diseño, para
varios años de servicio sin mantenimiento. A continuación se
describe el procedimiento para revisarlos y probarlos cuando se
encuentren montados.
Revisión.
Los interruptores ya montados deben revisarse periódicamente.
La revisión se realiza de la siguiente forma.
