Your saw was shipped with 7 gallons of hydraulic oil in the tank. For the best operation of your saw, the
oil should be maintained as follows:
Oil Change Schedule (normal to moderately heavy use)
Mobil 'DTE-24' hydraulic oil: replace every three years.
Other hydraulic oils: replace every two years.
If a hydraulic oil other than 'DTE-24' is used, be sure it has the same viscosity (157 SUS
°
@100
F)
When changing hydraulic fluids, flush out the system with a light oil, kerosene, or a
specially formulated flushing oil. Drain the system again and refill with fresh oil. Be sure
to clean or replace the filter/strainer as part of the oil change.
Hydraulic System Troubleshooting
Most hydraulic problems are caused by any combination of these three situations:
1. Improper oil level: your tank is designed to hold 7 gallons of hydraulic oil. Too much oil can be
as much a problem as too little. The sight gage (visible on the right side of the barfeed below
the console) should be about 3/4 full.
2. Plugged filters: Check both the filter/strainer in the tank and the filler/breather cap. Clean or
replace as necessary.
3. Air entering the system above tank level: Check for loose fittings, pin holes in lines or hoses,
etc.
Filter Cleaning
The filter/strainer in your saw is made of steel with a Monel wire cloth screen. This filter may be
washed out in a clean solvent or a hot soap/water/ammonia solution and blown off with an air
hose. A soft brush (such as a new paint brush) can be used to scrub the screen. Wire brushes or
abrasive materials should not be used.
Hold the filter up to a light and look through the screen. Any dark patches are spots that need to
be re-cleaned. If you have an ultrasonic cleaning devise available it can be used to clean the
filter.
