shipped

OK
and
switch
off
the
power
to
your
disk drive(s)
as
instructed
in
the
alert
box.
If
you
are preparing
to
move
your
entire
system,
you
will
also switch
off
your
computer
at this time.
UNPARKING THE
DRIVE
HEADS
The
drive
heads
are automatically
unparked
when
you
switch
on
your
hard
disk
the next time
you
start
your system.
Marking
Bad
Sectors
Periodically,
you
should
check
your hard
disk
for
bad
sectors.
This
process
identifies
and
flags
defective
areas on
the
hard
disk.
(It's
normal
for
defective spots
to
develop
after
the drive
has been used
for
a
while.)
Once
these spots
have been
logged
with
Markbad,
they
will
not
be used
for
your hard
disk
operations.
