Getting started

PLEASE READ 'LET'S TALK SAFETY' BEFORE USE

Before you begin

Remove all packaging covering the appliance. Make sure the water tank and filters are in place and correctly fitted. Stand the appliance upright on a stable, flat surface away from sources of heat or open windows. Never block the air grills, keep the air grills free from any obstruction. Never position the dehumidifier under washing to prevent water dripping onto the appliance.

Care should always be taken when using a dehumidifier in a new build home or if any internal plaster renovation has been carried out within the last 6 months.

We recommend using the appliance with the humidity dial set to high and gradually adjusted over a period of weeks to prevent excess over-drying. Vax cannot be held responsible for any building damage as a result of improper use. Guidance should always be taken from you home builder.

For best performance position the appliance a safe distance away from walls, furniture and clothing with sufficient spacing as shown above, preferably a hallway or landing with the internal doors open.

Plug the dehumidifier into the mains. The appliance will produce a 2 second audio bleep confirming there is power to the appliance. Press the on/off button on the control panel to switch the appliance on. The fan will activate and the Led light on the front of the appliance will illuminate. Using the mode/programme button select one of the four programme options.

information TIP
Adequate ventilation such as leaving all internal doors open, will allow the dehumidifier to provide best coverage around the home.

Using the Device

Programme Options
Using the mode button choose one of the following four options:
Fan – This programme operates the dehumidifier in fan only mode (no moisture extraction, ideal for summer months when dehumidification is not required), to circulate air in the home or a room.
Clothes dry – This programme ignores room humidity levels and any settings selected and operates full extraction on high fan mode. This programme is best suited when drying clothes ideally in a small/medium sized room. This programme will run for 4 hours and will automatically switch off the appliance.

AUTOMATIC:
Daily – This programme is specifically for dehumidification within the home. The user can automatically set humidity target from 80 - 30% and will regulate to that level. The product will automatically adjust between high and low fan speed depending on the target humidity and actual humidity level difference.
Night – This programme is specifically for dehumidification at night. The user can automatically set the humidity target from 80 – 30% however the dehumidifier will only operate in low fan for night time use. The LED light will switch off and the audio tank full will be disabled, so as not to disturb you during the night.

Using the control panel and setting the humidity

The target humidity levels can be adjusted on the daily and night programs which are automatic.
The humidity can be adjusted from 80 – 30% in 5% increments. Once the room humidity meets the set level, the appliance will automatically switch off and turn back on when needed to maintain this level. (The LED light on the front panel and the display lights on the control panel will remain on continuously).
To make this adjustment, use the and buttons. The display wish flash to indicate this target value and will then revert back to actual room humidity.

Using the Control panel and setting the time delay

The timer function allows you to switch the appliance off after a set number of hours. If this is not selected the appliance will run in continuous mode (with the exclusion of clothes drying).
Press the timer button. The display panel will then display '00'. Using the and buttons select the required amount of time up to a maximum of 24 hours. (The clothes drying mode can only be timed to a maximum of 12 hours). After 3 seconds of setting the timer the display panel will revert back to displaying the humidity of the room.
To display the remaining timed hours, press the timer button and the remaining hours will then appear on the display.

Smart Air Sensor technology

Your Vax dehumidifier automatically monitors the humidity in the room and adjusts the extraction rate accordingly, as well as changing the indicator light on the front of the machine.
Blue light – indicates when the room humidity is less than 50%
Green light – indicates when the room humidity is at an ideal humidity setting of between 50% - 70%
Red light – indicates when the room humidity is very high, greater than 70%
Red flashing light means the water tank is full and will need to be emptied out.

Using the Adjustable air outlet cover

The LED lights will illuminate over the function when selected
The air outlet cover should always be open when the appliance is in use. Adjust the cover manually to direct the air to the preferred setting and to prevent the least disruption to the surroundings.

When the dehumidifier is first used it will produce a significant amount of water and the tank will need emptying more frequently. As the room becomes drier the dehumidifier collects less water and the tank takes longer to fill.
Always switch the appliance off and unplug from the mains when removing or refitting the water tank or filter and before carrying out any maintenance or troubleshooting checks.

Using the hose for continuous drainage (optional)

The water tank must remain fitted to the appliance when using the hose for continuous drainage. Using the drainage hose will allow continuous emptying of the dehumidifier. Water will be directed out through the hose and will not collect within the internal water tank.
The hose must be lower than the drainage port allowing the water to flow and prevent any flooding. Connect the hose to floor drain or stand pipe making sure it is correctly secured.

Using the release handles pull either side of the water tank and remove the water tank from the back of the appliance.

Attach the drainage hose to the water outlet. (Located behind the drainage port).

Refit the water tank making sure the hose lines up with the drainage port and does not become trapped.

Taking care of your machine

Do not leave water stored in the water tank between uses. Always switch the appliance off and unplug from the mains when removing or refitting the water tank or filter, and before carrying out any maintenance or troubleshooting checks.
