Installing the Extension boards
Extens
ion
boards may
be
factory installed, for installing other
extensio
n
boards
follow
the
procedure below.
WARNING:
For
insta
llation
of
the
extension boards
the
whole
CD-I
system
mu st
be disconnected
from
the ma
in
s
(AC).
When using
the front
slot:
• Pu
sh lightly
on
the
front
extens ion slot
door to
open
it.
Un
screw
and
remove
the metal
cover plate
that
covers the
extension
slot.
Slide
in the extension board
w
ith the
components facing
UP
.
Fix
th
e
metal cover plate
that
comes with
the
extension
board
w ith
screws
.
When using
the
back slot:
Unscrew and remove
the
metal cover plate
th
at
covers
th
e
extension slot.
Slide
in
the extens ion
board
w
ith
the components facing
DOWN.
Fix
the
meta
l
cover
plat
e
that
comes w
ith
the extension
board
with
screws.

2 INSTALLATION
Connecting peripheral equipment to the parallel
or serial
interfaces
Ensure power is switched off
t
o the CD-I system.
Connect
the
equipment
(e
.g modem) to
th
e
serial interface
(RS-232C port).
Or, connect
the equipment
to
t
he
para
ll
el
interface.
Always secure the
con
nection
cables with the
screws
.
Fol
low
the in structions
t hat come
w
ith the
periphe rals and
the
software
application
package
to
ensure
co
rrect
functioning.
Switching power to the Expansion module
Set the POWER
switch on the
rear
of the Expansion module to
"I" (=ON).
Leave the
switch
in this position to make full
use
of
the
power-on/standby system
facil iti
es
of
the
Multi
Media
Controller module
.
