DONEXON varmo TZ pro - Thermostat Installation Guide

Introduction

The varmo TZ pro is an electronic radiator thermostat, intended for use with water based room radiators. The varmo TZ pro valve is supplied with adapters for RA valves and valves with M30 x 1.5 (K) connections, two alkaline AA batteries and a 2 mm Allen key.

Inserting the batteries

Remove the battery cover and insert two AA batteries. Make sure the batteries are correctly oriented.
Rechargeable batteries must not be used.
If the battery goes flat, the system switches automatically to safety mode where the valve is slightly opened providing a small continuous water flow.

Installing the varmo TZ pro

M must be flashing on the display prior to installing.

  1. Start by mounting the appropriate adapter.
  1. Tighten RA adapter using the Allen key, hand-tighten the K adapter (max. 5 Nm).
  1. Screw the varmo TZ pro valve onto the adapter and tighten by hand (max. 5 Nm).
  1. Press for approx. 3 seconds to fix the varmo TZ pro smart radiator valve and leave mounting mode.

Including the device onto a Z-Wave controller

  • Ensure the varmo TZ pro is factory reset.
  • Follow the wizard on the app for adding a device to the system.
  • When instructed to, by the app, quickly press and release the on the varmo TZ pro.
  • Observe the app for the status of the process.

Display and buttons

Display and buttons
Use to navigate the display and the menus and to set the temperature, and use to select and confirm.

Temperature control and adjustment

The temperature is usually controlled via the DONEXON App, but may be changed at any time using the varmo TZ pro buttons. If this is done, the varmo TZ pro sends a message to the Z-Wave controller which then syncronises other varmo TZ pro in the same room.

Press to change the temperature.
The DONEXON App can instruct the varmo TZ pro to enter Fully Closed (FC) or Fully Open (FO) modes. When in either of these modes, the buttons can not be used to leave the mode nor change the temperature.

Technical information

  • If the varmo TZ pro does not get correct and timely replies (e.g. if the Z-Wave controller is turned off) it will automatically switch to 30 minutes wake up intervals and display an E5 error on the screen. If at next wake up the Z-Wave controller replies as expected, the varmo TZ pro will switch back to the original wake up interval.
  • The varmo TZ pro will not commence its periodic communications if it is in "Mounting mode". "Mounting mode" is for physical installation. Please see section "Installing the varmo TZ pro" for instructions on how to leave "Mounting mode".
