ZRT-106 is a Z-Wave Plus thermostat that automatically adjusts the temperature in a water radiator for optimum heating. With the ZRT-106, the room temperature can be easily monitored and controlled with a Nexa Bridge or any other control device with Z-Wave certification.
Z-Wave Plus technology ensures secure communication between devices.

SAFETY

Read through the entire instruction first. Engage a professional if so required. Nexa cannot be held liable if the product is used for any purpose other than the one for which it is designed, or if there is failure to comply with the instruction. The product contains no repairable parts.

INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION - Part 1

INSTALLATION - Part 2

Do not insert the batteries yet.

  1. Remove the existing valve or thermostat from the radiator valve.
  2. Fit the ZRT-106 onto the valve and then tighten it by turning the ring clockwise. You may need to use one of the adapters supplied to fit your radiator valve.
  3. The ZRT-106 can be installed in various directions as shown below. Note: Free air flow is needed to record the temperature. Avoid blocking the circulation of air around the thermostat.
Button Function
1 P Inclusion/exclusion in a Z-Wave network
2 On/Off
3 M Temperature adjustment, Normal / Night Reduction
4 Arrow Down Reduce the set room temperature
5 Arrow Up Increase the set room temperature

CONNECT TO A Z-WAVE NETWORK

The ZRT-106 supports the SmartStart function, inclusion starts automatically when the device is started and is repeated at dynamic intervals as long as the device is not included in a Z-Wave network. If a gateway does not support the SmartStart function, this device can be added to a Z-Wave network by means of manual inclusion, or by scanning the DSK QR code or entering a 5-digit Device Specific Key (DSK) at the request of the Z-Wave controller.

Auto inclusion:

  1. Put the Z-Wave controller in inclusion mode (see the manual for the controller)
  2. Fit batteries in the ZRT-106

Manual inclusion:

  1. Put the Z-Wave controller in inclusion mode (see the controller's manual)
  2. Fit batteries in the ZRT-106
  3. Press the P button 3 times within 1.5 seconds.

Exclusion:

  1. Put the Z-Wave controller in exclusion mode (see the controller's manual)
  2. Press the P button 3 times within 1.5 seconds.

Calibration

Calibration

  1. The device will initialise itself when inclusion is complete. During this time, the LCD display will show INIL with the background lighting flashing for 2 minutes.
  2. When the ZRT-106 shows AdAP, press the UP button to start calibration. The figure 0 will change to 1. Press the UP button again if it does not change to 1.
  3. The ZRT-106 will adapt to the regulating range of the valve by opening and closing the valve twice in order to store the end position settings. This may take up to 1 minute.
  4. Calibration is complete when the temperature readings are shown on the LCD display.

warning Note: The temperature readings will be correct approx. 10 minutes after installing the batteries.

OPERATION

  1. Automatic temperature adjustment, Normal and Night Reduction.
The operating mode is selected by pressing the M button and indicated in the display by means of for Normal and for Night Reduction. The setpoints for these two operating modes are set using the Z-Wave controller.
The thermostat will activate the heating when the room temperature is below the relevant setpoint.
  2. Schedule or scenario function.
The Z-Wave controller can automatically switch between operating modes on the basis of time, presence, etc. See the operating instructions for the controller.
  3. Manual temperature setting.
Preset setpoints can be disregarded temporarily by pressing the M button first and then adjusting the temperature using the Up/Down buttons. The ZRT-106 returns to its previous operating mode with preset setpoints after 4 hours. (Factory setting, can be altered with parameter 10 in the Z-Wave configuration)
  4. Airing mode.
When Airing mode is enabled, the ZRT-106 will automatically close the radiator valve when it detects a sudden drop in room temperature (default: 2°C in 15 minutes) and the display shows OP. The ZRT-106 returns to the previous operating mode after 30 minutes or when any button is pressed. (Factory setting, can be altered with parameters 6-9 in the Z-Wave configuration)
  5. Key lock.
Lock/unlock by holding down the P and M buttons for 5 seconds, locked buttons are indicated by means of in the display.
  6. On/Off.
In Off mode, thermostat control is disabled and the display just shows the time and day. Note that this does not switch off the device itself.

MAINTENANCE

Low battery. When the battery level is low, information is sent to the controller in order to alert the user. Replace the batteries as soon as possible

Decalc. When the ZRT-106 is inactive for long periods, e.g. during the summer, it automatically exercises the valve once a fortnight. This helps to prevent the radiator pipes becoming blocked and the valve seizing on account of limescale, etc.

SAFETY AND INFORMATION

Range indoors: up to 30 m (optimal conditions). The range is very dependent on the local conditions, for example, if there are metals in the vicinity. For example, the thin metal coating in energy glass with low emissivity has a negative influence on the range of the radio signals. There may be restrictions on the use of the unit outside the EU. If appropriate, you should check that the unit complies with local regulations.

Life-support equipment: Never use Nexa products for life-support equipment or other devices where faults or interference could have life-threatening consequences.

Interference: All wireless units can suffer from interference that can affect the performance and range. For this reason, the minimum distance between two receivers should be at least 50 cm

Repair: Do not attempt to repair the product. It does not contain any repairable parts.

Waterproofing: The product is not waterproof. Make sure it is dry at all times. Damp causes the electronics inside to corrode and this could lead to short-circuiting, faults and a risk for electric shocks.

Cleaning: Clean the product with a dry cloth. Do not use chemicals, solvents or strong cleaning agents.

Environment: Do not expose the product to intense heat or cold, because it could damage or shorten the service life of the electric circuits.
