Before operating your new appliance, please read all instructions carefully and keep for future reference.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE AND SAVE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE


When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed as below:

  1. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles only.
  2. To protect against risk of electric shock, do not immerse or partially immerse the cord, plugs, or the entire unit in water or any other liquid.
  3. Do not operate the appliance with wet hands or while standing on a wet floor. Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.
  4. Close supervision is necessary when appliance is used by or near children.
  5. Unplug from wall outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before cleaning or storing this appliance.
  6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
  7. The use of accessories attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause fire, electrical shock or injuries.
  8. Do not use outdoors. This is for household indoor use only.
  9. Oversized foods or metal utensils must not be used on the appliance as they may cause a fire or risk of electrical shock.
  10. Do not let the electrical cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  11. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
  12. Do not place the appliance on a plastic table cloth.
  13. Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into wall outlet. To disconnect, turn control to "OFF" position, then remove plug from wall outlet without pulling the cord.
  14. Protect the temperature dial from being hit, strong vibrations or dropping.
  15. Do not move the appliance while it contains hot oil or other hot liquids. Set up the appliance in the desired cooking location in advance.
  16. A fire may occur if the appliance is covered or touching flammable materials including curtains, draperies, walls and the like when in operation.
  17. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts, involving a risk of electrical shock.
  18. Do not store any materials on this unit when not in use.
  19. Do not place any of the following materials on the unit: paper, cardboard, plastic and the like.
  20. Some countertop and table surfaces, such as Corian®, wood and / or laminates, are not designed to withstand prolonged heat generated by certain appliances. It is recommended by countertop manufacturers and Maxi-Matic® that a suitable sized hot pad be placed under your appliance to prevent possible damage to the surface.

SHORT CORD PURPOSE

Note: A short power cord is provided to reduce the risk of personal injury resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord.

Longer power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.

If an extension cord is used:

  1. the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the product;
  2. the extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or tabletop where it can unintentionally be pulled on or tripped over by children or pets.

POLARIZED PLUG

If this appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other), please follow the below instructions:

To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If you are unable to fit the plug into the electrical outlet, try reversing the plug.

If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use the plug with an extension cord unless the plug can be fully inserted into the extension cord. Do not alter the plug of the product or any extension cord being used with this product. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Clean the griddle surface with a damp cloth to wipe off dust or any unwanted residue.
  • NEVER soak the unit in water and NEVER use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads on the non-stick surface as they might damage the coating.
  • Apply a light coat of cooking oil to the non-stick surface of the griddle.
  • Plug the power cord into a 120V AC outlet and set the temperature to 425°F for approximately 3-5 minutes.
    NOTE: The initial first use may result in minimal smell and smoke. This is caused by the unit burning off the protective coating that is applied during manufacturing. It is normal and harmless.
  • After the allotted time, turn the thermostat to "OFF" position then unplug the cord.
  • Detach the cord from the griddle and let the unit cool down.

HOW TO USE

  1. Turn the temperature dial to OFF position.
  2. Connect the temperature control probe to the receptacle with the temperature dial facing upwards.
  3. Connect the power cord to a suitable electrical outlet.
  4. Set the temperature dial to the desired temperature.

  5. The temperature indicator light lights up when the temperature is set or adjusting to a higher level. Once the desired temperature is reached, the indicator light cycles during use, indicating the selected temperature is being maintained. When adding food, the indicator light lights up briefly as the overall cooking temperature is reduced.
  6. Preheat the appliance for 5 - 10 minutes or until the indicator light goes out.
  7. When finished grilling, turn the temperature dial to Off position. Remove cooked foods from the appliance with a suitable non-metallic utensil to avoid damaging the non-stick surface.


NOTE:
Only use silicone, nylon or heat-proof plastic cooking utensils. Metal utensils may scratch the non-stick surface.


Do not touch the appliance while in use. During use, the appliance becomes hot. When using the appliance always wear kitchen mittens or gloves.

COOKING TIPS

  1. Use cooking spray with fish, lean meats or vegetables.
  2. When using wooden or bamboo skewers when cooking kebobs, it is highly recommended to soak the skewers in water for 10 minutes. This will prevent the skewers from scorching or burning during the cooking process.

  1. Always use caution when cooking. Hot oil, grease or juices may splatter when cooking.
  2. Do not touch any hot surfaces.
  3. Do not cut food on the griddle during the cooking process.
  4. It is recommended to not use metal utensils to handle food. This will damage the non-stick coating of the griddle.

NOTE:
The cooking times are approximate and included only for reference.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

  1. Use paper towels or a wooden or plastic spatula to wipe/ scrape off any food residue.
  2. Use a wet sponge or damp cloth to clean the exterior of your griddle. Do not plug the power cord into the wall outlet if the griddle is still wet.
  3. To remove cooked-on-food, use a plastic bristle brush or nylon mesh pad.
  4. DO NOT wash parts in dishwasher.

  • Unplug from electric outlet and allow to cool thoroughly before cleaning.
  • Never immerse the griddle in water or any other liquids. This may cause an electrical shortage and bodily harm.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads or steel wool to clean the surface. It may damage the coating.
