  • Page 6 Your new tractor has been assembled at the factory with exception of those parts left unassembled for shipping purposes. To ensure safe and proper operation of your tractor all parts and hardware you assemble must be tightened securely. Usa the correct tools as necessary to insure proper tightness.
  • Page 7 Connect BLACK groundingcable to negative (-) terminal with remaining hex bolt and keps nut. Tighten securely. Remove adjustment knob and flatwasher securing seat to cardboard packing and set aside for assembly of seat to tractor.

  • Page 12 TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELS Gauge wheels are propedy adjusted when they are slightly off the ground when mower isat the desired cutting height in operating position. Gauge wheels then keep the deck in proper position to help prevent scalping in most terrain conditions.
  • Page 13 BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL • The engine in your tractor has been shipped, from the factory, already filled with summer weight oil. • Check engine oil with tractor on level ground. • Unthreed and remove oil fill cap/dipstick; wipe oil off. Reinsert the dipstick intothe tube and rest oil fill cap on the tube.
  • Page 14 • Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine. After the engine is running, move throttle control to slow position. With motion control lever in neutral (N) position, slowly disengage clutch/brake pedal. • Move motion control lever to full forward position and hold for five (5) seconds.

  • Page 16 CUSTOMER TRACTOR Always observe safety rules when performing any mainte- nance. BRAKE OPERATION Iftractor requires more than six (6) feet stopping distance at high speed in highest gear, then brake must be adjusted. (See =1O ADJUST BRAKE" in the Service and Adjustments section of this manual).

  • Page 18 CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES CLEAN INTAKE/COOLING To insure proper cooling, make sure the grass screen, cooling fins, end other external surfaces of the engine ere kept clean at all times. Every 100 hours of operation (more often under extremely dusty, dirty conditions), remove the blower housing and other cooling shrouds.

  • Page 20 SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT (See Figs. 20 and 21) • Raise mower to its highest posrtion. • At the midpoint of both sides of mower, measure height from bottom edge of mower to ground. Distance =A"on both sides of mower should be the same or within 1/4" of each other.

If distance is otherthan 1-9116",loosen jam nut and turn nut =A" until distance becomes 1-9/16". Retighten jam nut against nut =A". Road test tractor for proper stopping distance as stated above.
