IRING AND ONNECTIONS The following diagram shows the wiring configuration when connected to Aritech telemetry equipment. A protocol converter is required when connected to other manufacturer’s equipment. Wiring and operation for these other devices is discussed in the specific protocol converter manual for that manufacturer.
Supply power to the ATA-KB3X using the 110-240 VAC to 12 VDC adapter. Test the operation of the ATA-KB3X to verify the integrity of the connections and that it operates in a correct manner as follows (For front panel controls, refer to the pages preceding this section.) Connect the ATA-KB3X keypad to the multiplexer using a RJ-45 to RJ-45 adapter cable, as illustrated (4.1).
If this is the first or last device on the network, terminate the device with a 100-ohm terminator plug. (Usually available from unit supplier.) Most Aritech units have looping RS-422 network connectors, meaning that the signal is looped in and out of the unit on the same connector.
PERATIONS Initial Power-Up When power is applied to the keyboard, a self-test lights all the LEDs and a distinctive power-on buzzer sound is emitted. The ATA-KB3X briefly displays the software version number on the keyboard LCD display. EXAMPLE: Ver 3.12 5.1.

(See Manual polling of the network in section 5.3 on page 18). Automatic Disconnection by a Multiplexer To prevent a multiplexer from remaining unavailable to other keyboards, the Aritech multiplexers disconnect from a controlling keyboard that has been idle for more than 30 minutes.
Manual Polling Of The Network During power up, the ATA-KB3X polls the network to see which units are connected and are available. It can happen that units are added to or removed from the network, after the ATA-KB3X has been powered up, and after it has polled the network.
5.4. Other Available Keyboard Functions Silencing the Keyboard Buzzer The beeping or chirping sound made when the keys are pressed on the keyboard can be silenced at the user’s preference. With the keyboard display showing: Standing by . . . Connected .

Testing the Preset Test the correct operation of the preset by moving the camera to a completely different view, and then commanding the camera to return to the preset as follows: Press the PRESET key on The keyboard LCD GO TO PRESHOT the keyboard one time.
P/T/Z Addressing Requirements All camera inputs (whether fixed cameras or P/T/Z units) are connected to a multiplexer input. The multiplexer has an RS-485 network address, and so does the Pan/Tilt camera receiver. This address determines when the telemetry receiver will respond to commands sent via the RS-485 data line.

When certain CyberDome menus are displayed, the joystick function is used to navigate the menu and no longer controls the customary Pan/Tilt/Zoom functions. The ATA-KB3X does not have a ZERO (0) key, so the TEN (10) key is given this function. Accessing the CyberDome Programming Menu The KB3X should be in the Telemetry mode.
