NivoGuide® 8200 • Two-wire 4 … 20 mA/HART 4 Mounting Type of vessel Plastic vessel/Glass vessel The guided microwave principle requires a metallic surface on the process fitting. Therefore, in plastic vessels, etc., use an instru- ment version with flange (from DN 50) or place a metal sheet (ø > 200 mm/8 in) beneath the process fitting when screwing it in. Make sure that the plate has direct contact with the process fitting. When mounting rod or cable probes in vessels without metal walls, e.g. in plastic vessels, the measured value can be influenced by strong electromagnetic fields (emitted interference according to EN 61326: class A).

NivoGuide® 8200 • Two-wire 4 … 20 mA/HART 4 Mounting Fig. 8: Mounting of the sensor with inflowing medium Measuring range The reference plane for the measuring range of the sensors is the sealing surface of the thread or flange. Keep in mind that a min. distance must be maintained below the refer- ence plane and possibly also at the end of the probe - measurement in these areas is not possible (dead zone). The length of the cable can be used all the way to the end only when measuring conductive products. These dead zones for different mediums are listed in chap-...

NivoGuide® 8200 • Two-wire 4 … 20 mA/HART 4 Mounting Microwaves can penetrate many plastics. This is why plastic tubes are problematic for measurement applications. If durability is no problem, we recommend the use of uncoated metal standpipes. When the NivoGuide 8200 is used in bypass tubes, contact with the tube wall must be avoided.
Page 17
NivoGuide® 8200 • Two-wire 4 … 20 mA/HART 4 Mounting Note: Measurement in a standpipe is not recommended for extremely adhe- sive products. In case of slight buildup, you should choose a bypass tube with bigger diameter. Instructions for the measurement: •...

NivoGuide® 8200 • Two-wire 4 … 20 mA/HART 4 Mounting • A false signal suppression with installed sensor is generally rec- ommended to achieve the best possible accuracy. Mounting in the vessel Instruments for a temperature range up to +280 °C (536 °F) or up to insulation +450 °C (842 °F) have a distance piece between process fitting and electronics housing.

NivoGuide® 8200 • Two-wire 4 … 20 mA/HART 4 Mounting If internal installations such as struts, ladders, etc. are present on the vessel wall, the measuring probe should be mounted at least 300 mm (11.81 in) away from the vessel wall. You can find further information in the supplementary instructions of the rod extension.
NivoGuide® 8200 • Two-wire 4 … 20 mA/HART 5 Connecting to power supply Connecting to power supply Preparing the connection Safety instructions Always keep in mind the following safety instructions: • Carry out electrical connection by trained, qualified personnel authorised by the plant operator • If overvoltage surges are expected, overvoltage arresters should be installed Warning: Only connect or disconnect in de-energized state.
NivoGuide® 8200 • Two-wire 4 … 20 mA/HART 5 Connecting to power supply Note: Prior to setup you have to replace these protective caps with ap- proved cable glands or close the openings with suitable blind plugs.
