    Introduction Thanks for choosing OptiTech air source heat pump for your hot water. Please read this manual carefully before installation and operation. Working Principle The heat pump water heater system heats water by transferring the heat from the surrounding air to the water using a refrigerant. The refrigerant is heated by a heat exchanger that absorbs heat from the surrounding air (Figure 1).

The system will run once the power  becomes available and the temperature in the tank drops below the set point of the tank thermistor. If connecting the unit to off-peak, ensure that the off peak tariff provides a minimum of 2 hours continuous power, as it can take at least 2 hours to fill the tank unit with hot water.
