Product Safety MBoS, Modular Breakout System Safety Symbols The following safety symbols may be used on the product and throughout the product documentation. Meaning / Description Symbol PROTECTIVE EARTH (GROUND) To identify any terminal which is intended for connection to an external conductor for protection against electric shock in case of a fault, or the terminal of a protective earth (ground) electrode.
Unused slots in this chassis are populated with blanking plates to prevent access to user I/O signals that may be present. Blanking panels are available to order from Pickering in a variety of slot widths. If the product is not used in this manner for example by using an extender card then additional care must be taken to avoid contact with exposed signals.
As the modular design uses PXI, users can take advantage prior to writing test code. The majority of the BoBs and FIU of Pickering’s large range of FIU modules - the largest in the systems available today are not modular and are fixed in industry.

95-196-001 40-525A Signal Insertion & Monitor Matrix 95-525A-001 Product Customization Pickering modules are designed and manufactured on our own flexible manufacturing lines, giving complete product control and enabling simple customization to meet very specific requirements. All customized products are given a unique part number, fully documented and may be ordered at any time in the future.
MBoS Frame The MBoS frame is a 19 inch full rack width mounting frame for a PXI, Hybrid or LXI chassis. Breakout modules mount on the front of the frame and mate with the front panels of the PXI modules installed in the chassis. The frame has sufficient clearance above and below the chassis to allow cabling to be routed in a way best suited to the application - this would usually be out of the rear of the frame.
Programmable Resistor modules. A Breakout Module is designed to mate with the front panel connector(s) of a specific PXI module fitted into a PXI, Hybrid or LXI chassis which is in turn fitted into the MBoS frame. The user signals from the PXI module are routed to the front panel of the Breakout Module where they are accessible via individual terminals.
MBoS, Modular Breakout System How to Use The Breakout System Once the MBoS has been integrated into a test system, the terminals on the front panel of the Breakout Modules can be used in a number of ways: • Manually simulate short and open circuit conditions between signals to confirm a test process before it is automated using the fault insertion module.
