Safety Advice

  • If the battery is leaking, remove the battery and wipe off the liquid thoroughly with a cloth or paper.

Maintenance

  • If the product is very dirty, wipe off a little at a time with a soft cloth wet with mild detergent diluted in water, and after that wipe dry.
    Do not use benzine, thinner, alcohol, or spray cleaner to clean the case.
  • When the clock is hung, the clock or wall may become soiled due to static electricity so please clean regularly.

Troubleshooting

Check these items first if the product does not appear to be working properly.

Problem Cause & Solution
The time is slow or fast. Time accuracy is affected by temperature which may cause the time to speed up or slow down. If the time inaccuracy builds up, make sure to turn the hands knob in the direction of the arrow to fix the correct time.
The sound or movement of the chime slows down. When the battery pressure drops, the ticking slows down and affects the tone. Please change batteries.
The clock hands have stopped but chimes when the test button is pressed. When the battery is low, the hands will stop first. Please change batteries.
There is a difference in the sound of the chime. As the paper part of the cuckoo sound source is hand made, the tone between products may differ.
When it chimes, there are noises other than the cuckoo sound. This is the sound of the cuckoo or bird moving. It is not a malfunction.

  • Locations where large quantities of oil are used, such as a kitchen.
  • Direct contact with rubber or polyvinyl chlorides for long periods may cause the product to stain, stick or deteriorate.

  • Please dispose of in accordance with the regulations of your local government area.

Cuckoo: When the clock chimes, it pops out and goes up and down. When the cuckoo is out, push the test button to return it to its original position.
Test button: To test the chime
Light sensor: The chime will stop when it goes dark by sensing the brightness.

If the magnet or iron part comes into contact with foreign items containing iron, the suction will weaken. If contact occurs, please detach.

Inserting the battery in the opposite direction as indicated will result in the battery to leak, heat or explode.


Caution about magnets
Keep the product away from magnetic sensitive items such as a heart pace-maker and magnetic storage mediums such as commuter tickets and ATM cards. This can cause loss of data or malfunction.


Changing batteries

To avoid battery leakage or explosion, please follow the below.

  • If the clock stops, either replace the battery with a new one or remove the battery.
  • Even when the clock is still working, change the battery regularly once per year.

When changing batteries, please set the display time and chime time by referring to the "Steps for Use".

Types of battery

  • As a general rechargeable battery has low voltage, please do not use with this product.
  • Dry manganese batteries have a shorter life compared to dry alkaline batteries.

Life of the battery

  • The battery provided has been kept in factory storage so it may last shorter than the specified battery life.
  • Depending on the conditions of use such as the temperature, battery life may be shorter than specified.
  • When using a battery that has been kept in storage, battery life may be shorter depending on the storage condition and the "Battery expiration date" as specified on the battery.

  • The enclosed wall-mounting wood screw is for use on a wooden pillar or thick wooden wall.
  • Please securely screw the wall-mounting wood screw for hanging straight into the wall.

Hanging on other types of walls

  • When hanging on a wall made from plasterboard, concrete etc, please use a commercially sold hanging fixture suitable for hanging the weight of the clock on the structure and material of the wall. There is a danger that using adhesive or suction type of fixture may cause the clock to fall, so please avoid using it.

Please follow the instructions for the chime to function correctly.

Steps for use

  1. Open the door by putting your finger through the finger hole and pull.
  2. Turn the hands knob in the direction of the arrow and set time to 5:50.

  3. Insert the battery into the battery holder in the same way as shown. Once the battery is inserted, the chime will start.
  4. Press RESET
    • To prevent malfunction, make sure to press this after the battery is inserted.
    • When RESET is pressed, the chime will be set at 5:00
    • RESET can be pressed even while the chime is sounding.
  5. Make sure to turn the hands knob in the direction of the arrow to set the current time.
    • The time can be set even when the chime is sounding.
  6. Setting the chime switch
    ON Chime on OFF Chime off *Chime is set at OFF during shipment.
  7. Close the door.
    • Right after the battery has been inserted or when RESET has been pressed, the chime will sound 5 times.
    • The chime will not sound during steps 3~5 when in a dark place.
    • When the Chime Switch is OFF, the chime will not sound at step ⑤.
    • Every time the minute hand passes 12 (0 minutes), the number of times the chime will sound will increase by 1.
    • Even if the minute hand is turned anti-clockwise, the chime sound will still increase by 1, so when setting the time, make sure the minute hand turns clockwise.

Chime function

  • Setting the chime switch
    ON Every hour on the hour. The number of times the chime will sound will be according to the time.
    Every half hour. The chime will sound once.
    *Due to the light sensor, the chime will not sound in dark places. OFF The chime will not sound.
  • About the half hour chime
    • Even if the time is set at 30 minutes by turning the hands knob, the chime will not sound.
    • When turning the hands knob, it is possible the half hour chime will sound at a different time from the displayed time. After some time, when the chime sounds on the hour once, it should return to normal function.
  • About the chime volume
    The volume cannot be adjusted.
    By covering the finger hole, the chime sound can be lowered.
  • Checking and testing the chime... Test, SET button
    By pressing the Test button, the number of times the chime will sound will be according to the time displayed.
    E.g. if the time is 10:09, the chime will sound 10 times.
  • When the number of times the chime sounds is incorrect, Correct the number of chime sound by pressing the SET button.
    • Press the SET button once will increase the number of chime sound by 1.
    • Pressing the button when the chime sounds 12 times, will return the chime to sound once.
      Please also correct the time by following steps~above.

Installation of the clock

  • The chime will not function correctly if the clock is tilted.
    Free standing: To avoid the clock from falling over or overturning, place on a level surface with minimal vibrations.
  • When the clock is used free standing, stick the rubber cushion provided on the 4 corners on the bottom of the clock.

Hanging

If the clock is hung up incorrectly, there is a danger it may fall.

  • When hanging the clock, check that the hole for hanging is securely hung on the wall fixture (wood screw) by moving it gently across and up and down.
  • Hang vertically. If hung on its side, it may come off from the fixture.
  • Place the clock in a location where the door's vibration will not be felt when it is being opened/closed.
  • When using a commercially sold hanging fixture, choose one that enables the hole for hanging to fit securely.
