    Preface The following detailed operating instructions contain general notes on set-up, operation and maintenance of the Husmann machines. Before commissioning of the portable compactor, read and consider these operating instructions. The basic prerequisite for safe operation of the machine is knowing the safety notes and the safety provisions.

    4 Safety 4.1 Meaning of the safety signal words The following safety signal words are used in conjunction with safety signs to represent po- tential hazards. DANGER! Death, serious injury or significant property damage will occur if proper precautions are not taken. WARNING! Death, serious injury, or property damage may result if proper precautions are not taken.

    4.2 Safety The safety and availability of the machine depends on following these instructions. DANGER! Failure to follow these safety instructions will result in injury or death. Observe safety instructions! • Basic safety instructions 4.2.1 The machine may only be put into operation if it has been set up and installed in accordance with these regulations.

The removal of covers or fixed guards must be done only by authorized persons and only after disconnecting the machine from the mains and locking the main switch in the "Off" position.     8 Installation Observe the corresponding DIN EN ISO 14122 parts 1 to 4 during assembly and installation! 8.1 Installation site The compactor may only be operated on a suitable, stable and level surface. With an inclina- tion of > 5 °, the compactor may only be operated with chocks or wheel chocks, which are to be fixed to at least one roller.

    8.2 Installation on ramps, pedestals and working platforms For ergonomic reasons, the use of pedestals may be useful. If the correct operation of the portable compactor is not ensured, appropriate ramps, working platforms or platforms with railings of at least 1100 mm must be erected on both sides. The pedestals and working platforms are to be built according to DIN and set up.

    8.3 Installation in generally accessible areas DANGER! If the compactor is installed in generally accessible places, it must be ensured that an unauthorized person cannot operate it. (For example, lock the main switch with a padlock, turn off the keyswitch - if existing - and remove the key, disconnect from the main power supply and ensure that it cannot be re- connected by unauthorized persons).

    9 Initial start-up ATTENTION! Pay attention to the correct rotating field during the first commissioning, location or cable change. By default, the machine is delivered with a clockwise rotating field. If the rotating field in the supply line does not meet this requirement (the ram does not move even though the hydraulic motor is running), it must be reconnected by an authorized electrician.

Never use larger fuses! DANGER! Only trained and instructed specialized staff is allowed to work on the machine.

Then the ram moves forward and presses the material to be compacted against the pre-crush plate. After two or three compaction cycles, the pre-crush plate moves upward and the ram pushes the material into the container.

    10.1 One-piece lid (with gas struts) WARNING! When opening the lid, the gas struts are under pressure. The lid moves upward! Open the galvanized closures on the compaction head. Use the handle on the side of the lid. Thanks to the gas struts the lid moves automatically upward. The gas struts of the lid create a counterforce and counteract the weight of the lid.

    10.2 Hydraulic lid The hydraulic lid can be operated by a hydraulic hand valve and the two-hand selector switch or by an electric push-button and the button for two-hand operation.     14 Transport 14.1 Means of Transport Depending on the model, the machine is designed for transport with a hook-lift vehicle, roll- off tipper, skip loader, wire or chain lift vehicle. The exact system must be determined in ad- vance with the manufacturer. Consult the operating instructions of the vehicle manufacturer. The lifting hook at the filling opening can be designed as a rigid hook or as a drop-down hook depending on which one the customer prefers.

    15 Maintenance General information According to the accident prevention regulations (UVV) and the BetrSichV (Industrial Safety Regulation), regular inspections and / or inspections must be carried out by an authorized, qualified person.     15.1 Operational maintenance For operational maintenance, a daily visual inspection of the machine for visible damage is necessary. This also includes an extended check once per week.
