Enabling/Disabling the Backlash Suppression Mechanism When you change the wavelength/frequency or FWHM value, the XTA-50 automatically operates the backlash suppression mechanism to eliminate the effect of mechanical backlash on the tuning wavelength actuator: it moves 5 nm lower than the wanted wavelength/frequency before going to the requested wavelength/frequency.
To install or update the XTA-50 Remote program: 1. From the XTA-50 USB key or the EXFO website, copy the Remote Client x.x.x folder to a local directory on your computer.
Switching Between Remote and Local Mode Switching Between Remote and Local Mode You can use the remote mode after initialization of the XTA-50 and after validation of the presentation page appearing at device start-up. If a sequence is running, wavelength, frequency and FWHM remote assignment are disabled.

Maintenance User maintenance of the XTA-50 system is limited to basic maintenance tasks that do not require removing the instrument case-cover or accessing any internal component of the instrument. ARNING To avoid the possibility of injury, never remove the protective cover of the chassis to perform servicing or maintenance operations to the XTA-50 internal parts and optical components.
Updating the XTA-50 Firmware Version The firmware version update package is a .pkg file named XTA_Updater_x.xx.pkg where x.xx is the firmware version. It is available on the EXFO website, from the EXFO Apps area. AUTION Do not install a lower version of software than the current version installed on your product.
Updating the operating system may take a significant amount of time. To update the operating system version: 1. Make sure that your XTA-50 is connected to the Internet with an Ethernet cable, on Ethernet port #2 (see Rear Panel on page 5).
Accessing the operating system closes the XTA-50 application. To open it again, you must restart the system. To access the operating system: 1.
