BCS-8xx series installation manual 1 Introduction of the product range Historically, the first battery tester built by Bio-Logic was a multi-channel instrument. It was designed to study intercalated ion compounds with long experiment times due to slow diffu- sion coefficients. Since that time, many improvements have been made. Following in the steps of our first multi-channel instrument, the BCS-8xx series is a newly developed multi-channel instrument specifically designed for battery cycling.

BCS-8xx series installation manual Fig. 2: BCS-8xx modules. From top to bottom: BCS-805, BCS-810, and BCS-815. Each BCS-8xx module has 8 channels. Additionally for the BCS-810 and BCS-815, 8 tem- perature probes (K-type thermocouple) are available in standard. For the BCS-805, no tem- perature probe is available.
BCS-8xx series installation manual 1.1 How to read this manual? The aim of this manual is to guide the user through the instrument’s installation and configu- ration. This manual is composed of several chapters. The first part is a general description of the instruments. The second and third parts describe the hardware installation and how to install the software and how to configure the computer.
BCS-8xx series installation manual Once the techniques have been loaded and started from the PC, the experiments are entirely under the control of the BCS-8xx’s on-board computer. The BCS-COM temporarily buffers data and regularly transfers them to the PC, which is used for data storage, on-line visualiza- tion, on-line and off-line data processing and display.

BCS-8xx series installation manual With BCS-805 and BCS-810, no BCS-PDU is needed because the required power for these modules is relatively low and does not justify a three-phase power supply distribution. The eight channels of a BCS-810 require the same power as one channel of a BCS-815. It is possible to connect different models of BCS-8xx modules to the same BCS-COM.
