  • Chime Button
  • Two 3-Volt lithium batteries (installed)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Screws

TOOLS NEEDED

  • Small Phillips head screwdriver

  • Drill, if mounting with screws

Note: Your new wireless chime button can only be used to add a button to an existing Carlon Wireless Chime system. It can not be used with any other mechanical or wireless chime system.

MOUNTING BACK COVER OF CHIME BUTTON

Note: Mounting Chime Button on aluminum siding or metal door frame may reduce range. If button must be mounted on metal, try placing a 1/2'' piece of wood between the button and the metal.
If you want to cover the wire hole from your existing button, save mounting of the new Chime Button until after removing the existing button.

  1. Remove cover from back of Button by inserting ballpointpen into round hole at bottom of transmitter and gently pushing in on tab. Lift Chime Button cover away from the back plate.
  2. For tape mounting:
    1. Make sure surfaces are free of dust, oil, and other sub-stances that could affect adhesion.
    2. Attach double-sided tape to Chime Button back cover.
    3. Making sure that the end with the hook-shaped latchis facing down, press cover firmly to mounting surface.
  3. For screw mounting:
    1. Place Chime Button where desired and mark screwlocations.
    2. Place Chime Button back cover against mounting sur-face and screw into marked locations using screws enclosed (may require drilling pilot holes on hardwoods).

TEST

Press Chime Button. Receiver should play tone.

CHANGING TONE/MELODY SELECTION

To change to a different tone or melody, press once on the small raised Button located on top front of the Button. Receiver will play next selection. To continue changing melody or selection, press down once again and wait for Receiver to confirm change.
CHANGING TONE/MELODY SELECTION
Note: If you change melodies or tones too rapidly, the Receiver will not play each selection. Only last melody or tone selected will play. Selecting while Receiver is playing will switch system to new setting, but Receiver will only finish playing tone or melody already in progress.

FRONT/BACK DOOR CHIME OPERATION

With two Chime Buttons, scroll and set a different selection for each door. By remembering which tone/melody is played, you can tell which button is pressed. Chime Buttons may also be used as hand-held pagers.

TO REPLACE BATTERIES

  1. Remove Chime Button from back cover by inserting ballpoint pen into round hole at bottom of Button and gently pushing in on tab. Lift Chime Button cover away from the back plate.
  2. Remove old batteries by placing asmall screwdriver or ballpoint pen in the slot directly beneath the batteries. Lift the top battery out of the battery compartment. Repeat with second battery. (Do not hit Chime Button to remove batteries - this could damage the Button.) Dispose of used batteries promptly. Keep away from children. Do not disassemble and do not dispose of in fire.
  3. Replace old batteries with new batteries, positive (+) side up.

The batteries used in this device may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 100ºC (212ºF), or incinerate. Replace with UL approved Type CR2032 3 volt lithium batteries from Carlon (RC3395D), Radio Shack, Toshiba, Sharp, NewSun, or Sony only. Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

Receiver does not sound when button is pressed

SUGGESTION: Verify that Button batteries are installed correctly and battery contacts are in the correct position. Try replacing Button batteries first. Make sure outlet is functioning. Check that Receiver and Button are placed within operating range.

Chime only plays "dong"

SUGGESTION: Press Scroll Button on Transmitter to change sound options.

Receiver sometimes plays without anyone pressing Chime Button

SUGGESTION: If another Wireless Chime System is on the same frequency nearby, it could accidentally trigger your system. If this happens, change privacy code.

PRIVACY CODES and HOW TO CHANGE THEM

It is NOT necessary to change the privacy code unless interference occurs. If you need to change code:

  1. Use a nail clipper or wire cutter to cut and separate one of the wires ("A" through "E") on Chime Receiver. Make sure cut wire does not touch any other wire.
  2. Remove back cover from Chime Buttonand locate the wires, which are in the rectangular compartment adjacent to the batteries. The wires are designated "A" through "E" with letters located immediately above them.
  3. Using a nail clipper or wire cutter, cut and separate the same wire that was cut on the Chime Receiver. Make sure that the cut wire does not touch any other wire.

Note: It doesn't matter which wires are cut, but be sure that the same wire cut on the Button matches that of the Receiver. If the wire cut on the Chime Button does not match the wire cut on the Chime Receiver, the system will not work.

Suggestion: Begin by cutting just one wire in the Chime Receiver and the same wire in the Chime Button. Test to see if the problem is eliminated. If the system is still not working properly, try cutting another wire. DON'T FORGET THAT EVERY TIME A WIRE IS CUT IN THE CHIME RECEIVER, THE CORRESPONDING WIRE MUST BE CUT IN THE CHIME BUTTON.
