OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
4.1.
MODEL GW1200 only.
p WARNING! before using ensure you have read, understood and apply chapter 1 safety instructions.
4.1.1. Position the winch vehicle at an appropriate distance from the load. Engage hand brakes and ensure
the winching vehicle is secure and will not move.
4.1.2. Release the winch brake (fig 2.1) and unwind cable by turning the handle anti-clockwise. Secure the
winch to the load correctly as in chapter 1.
4.1.3. Chock the wheels of vehicle (load) to be winched then release vehicle brakes and place gears in neutral, ensure the vehicle (load)
is capable of free movement before winching.
4.1.4. Engage the winch brake (fig 2.1.) and rotate the handle clock-wise to take up the strain. Remove the wheel chocks from load and
continue turning the handle clock-wise thus pulling the load. As the crank handle is turned you will hear the winch brake
automatically locking the gear in position to hold the load. DO NOT release the brake until you have read “to release the load”.
4.1.5. To release the load:
WARNING! Ensure you are able to hold the load by the handle before releasing the brake (fig 2.1) If the load is not
sufficiently held, releasing the brake will allow the cable to freely unwind releasing the load in an uncontrolled manner,
which in turn will freely spin the handle. Always ensure you have a correct and adequate grip of the winch handle.
Ensure there is nothing in the path of the load’s movement. Take up the load strain on the winch handle and hold in order to release
the brake. Press the brake down; slowly wind the handle anti-clockwise to release the load. To re-secure the load at any given
point, re-engage the brake.
4.2.
MODEL GWE1200 only.
p WARNING! before using the winch ensure you have read, understood and apply chapter 1 safety instructions.
4.2.1. Position the winch vehicle at an appropriate distance from the load. Engage hand brakes and ensure the winching vehicle is secure
and will not move.
4.2.2. Release winch cable by turning the handle anti-clockwise, and secure to load correctly as in chapter 1.
4.2.3. Chock the wheels of vehicle (load) to be winched then release vehicle (load’s) brakes and place gears in neutral, ensure the load is
capable of free movement before winching.
4.2.4. Rotate the winch handle clock-wise to take up the strain and remove the wheel chocks from load and continue turning the handle
clock-wise thus pulling the load. As the crank handle is turned you will hear the winch brake automatically locking the gear in position
to hold the load.
4.2.5. To release the load, ensure there is nothing in the path of the loads movement and turn the handle anti-clockwise.
Note: When the handle is release the winch will remain locked at that point.

MAINTENANCE
Keep winch and cable clean. Inspect cable regularly checking for fraying, kinks, broken strands or distortion and replace if necessary.
Keep the cable and unit lightly oiled for protection. Although the winch has been fully lubricated during manufacture, periodically
grease gears, reel shaft and handle threads, but DO NOT get oil or grease on the brake mechanism.
