PRECAUTIONS

When using an electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before using.
  • Ensure the voltage is compliant with the voltage range stated on the rating label and ensure the grounding of the outlet is in good condition.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
  • To protect against risk of electric shock, do not pour water on cord, plug and ventilation, immerse the appliance in liquid.
  • Unplug the appliance after using or before cleaning.
  • Do not use accessories not recommended by manufacturer.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • DO NOT operate appliance on or near stove top or sources of high heat.
  • Never clean with scouring powders or hard implements.
  • This appliance is intended for household use only.
  • DO NOT operate appliance if there is any sign of damage to the power cord or any other part of the appliance.
  • DO NOT disconnect power supply by pulling on cord. Grasp by plug.
  • DO NOT attempt to repair the unit yourself. Please contact Koolatron Customer Service in the event that you have difficulty with the product, and you will be ad vised of the appropriate course of action.
  • DO NOT place the appliance on or near combustible materials such as a tablecloth or curtain.
  • DO NOT place the appliance against a wall or against other appliance. Leave at least 4"/ 10cm free around and top of the appliance. Do not use the appliance under overhead cabinets. The steam may cause damage to the cabinets.
  • DO NOT place anything on top of the appliance.
  • DO NOT use the appliance for any other purpose than described in this manual.
  • DO NOT let the appliance operate unattended.
  • Keep all ingredients in the basket to prevent any contact from heating elements.
  • DO NOT cover the air inlet and the air outlet when the appliance is working.
  • DO NOT fill the pan with oil, it may cause a fire hazard.
  • DO NOT touch the inside of the appliance while it is operating.
  • Immediately unplug the appliance if you see dark smoke coming out of the appliance. Wait for the smoke emission to stop before you remove the pan from the appliance.
  • During hot air frying, hot steam is released through the air outlet openings. Keep your hands and face at a safe distance from the steam and form the air outlet openings. Be careful of hot steam and air when removing the pan from the appliance. Any accessible surfaces may become hot during use.

The Air Fryer provides an easy and healthy way of preparing your favorite foods. By using hot rapid air circulation and a top grill, it is able to cook a variety of dishes with little or no oil. The Air Fryer heats food from all directions and most of the ingredients do not need any oil.

OPERATION

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Remove all packaging materials and labels.
  2. Slide out the basket and pan, place on a flat surface, push forward the button cover, and separate the basket from the pan by pressing down the basket release button. Clean the basket and pan with hot water, mild dishwashing liquid and a non-abrasive sponge. These parts are also safe to be cleaned in dishwasher.
  3. Wipe inside and outside of the appliance with a slightly damp cloth.

USING YOUR AIR FRYER

  1. Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal and heat-resistant surface.
  2. Place the basket in the pan, then slide the pan into the unit.
  3. Plug the powercord in the power outlet and the POWER button will light up with 2 'beeps'. The unit is on stand-by mode.
  4. Before cooking the food, it is recommended to preheat the appliance without food in the basket set by manual cooking function for 3 minutes at 360°F.
  5. Determine the required preparation time for the ingredients, see COOKING TIPS.
  6. Using the handle, pull the basket out of Air Fryer and place it on a heat-resistant surface.

    Never operate the appliance without the basket placed in the pan. Do not touch the external surface of the pan during use or when removed from appliance directly after cooking, as it gets very hot. Only hold the pan by the handle.
  7. Place the ingredients in the basket.
    warning NOTE
    Do not exceed the MAX indication (see 'SETTINGS'), as it may effect the quality of the food.
  8. Slide the basket back into the Air Fryer, making sure it is securely in place, otherwise the unit will not start.

  9. Touch the POWER button to switch on the unit.
  10. Set the desired cooking time & temperature by touching the MENU button, set the cooking time with the TIMER buttons and set the temperature with TEMPERATURE buttons.
    warning NOTE
    The temperature and time in the COOKING TIPS are approximates. You can adjust the time and temperature according to the volumes of the ingredients placed in the basket.
  11. After the cooking time and temperature are set, touch the POWER button again to start the cooking.
    1. The rotating fan indicator light (blue) and heating indicator star (red) will light up.
    2. The timer starts counting down the set preparation time.
    3. During the process, the 'heating-up' light comes on and goes out from time to time. This indicates that the heating element is switched on and off to maintain the set temperature.
  12. During the cooking process, oil will drip and be collected on the bottom of the pan. This can be cleaned at the end of the cooking process when the pan has cooled down.
  13. For cooking of some ingredients, it requires you to toss contents of the basket during the cooking process to ensure even cooking and avoid charring of ingredients positioned at the top of the basket.
    When tossing is needed, you can remove the pan and basket without affecting the timer. The appliance will stop heating when the pan and basket are pulled out. After tossing, place the pan and basket back into the appliance to resume cooking.


    Do not press the basket release button when tossing the ingredients to keep the pan attached. Otherwise, the pan could fall out and cause serious injuries to the user or splashing hot oil from the pan.

    information TIP
    You can set the timer for half of the cooking time. When time has elapsed and the beeping sound activates, remove the pan from the appliance to toss the ingredients. When placing the pan back in the appliance again, reset the timer for the balance of the cooking time.
  14. When you hear the 'beep' sound 5 times, the set time has elapsed and the cooking cycle is completed. The appliance is now in standby mode.
  15. Check if the ingredients are cooked to your satisfaction. If not, set the timer for a few more minutes until it cooked to your satisfaction.
  16. Remove the pan from the appliance, only holding by the handle as other surfaces are hot and place it on a heat-resistant surface. Press the basket release button to remove the basket and tip contents onto a dish. To remove large or delicate ingredients from the basket, do not tip them out. Pick them up with a pair of tongs.
  17. After you have completed using your appliance, remove the plug from the wall socket immediately and allow it to cool down completely.

  • Do not press the basket release button to remove the basket from the pan until it is placed on a flat, firm and heat-resistant surface.
  • Beware of escaping steam from the pan, as there is a danger of scalding.
  • Do not turn the basket with ingredients upside down with the pan attached when tipping the contents onto a dish. Excess oil may have collected in the pan and could drip out.

warning NOTE
You can manually switch off the appliance by touching the power key at any time during the cooking process if you are unable to supervise. The red heating indicator star will go out and the blue rotating fan indicator will still keep lighting for 15seconds. Then you will hear the 'beep' sound 5 times, and the appliance will stop working. The appliance is now in standby mode.


NEVER LEAVE THE UNIT UNATTENDED WHEN IN USE.

To assist with selection of cooking times and maximum basket volumes for specific ingredients, refer to the cooking manual in this booklet.

warning NOTE
Keep in mind that the cooking manual is indicative and for your reference only. Variation in size, shapes and brands may require an increase or decrease for the time and temperature set to achieve your desired cooking outcome.
This type of heating technology reheats the air inside the appliance instantly, so pulling the pan briefly out of the appliance to toss ingredients during the cooking process barely disturbs the process.

information TIPS

  • Small ingredients usually require a slightly shorter preparation time than larger ingredients.
  • A larger amount of ingredients only requires a slightly longer preparation time, a smaller amount of ingredients only requires a slightly shorter preparation time.
  • Shaking smaller ingredients halfway during the preparation time optimizes the end result and can help prevent unevenly fried ingredients.
  • Do not prepare extremely greasy ingredients such as sausages in the air fryer.
  • Snacks can be prepared in an oven can also be prepared in the air fryer.
  • The optimal amount for prepare crispy fries is 1.1 lbs / 500 grams. For best results with home-made fries, soak the cut fries in water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch, dry on kitchen paper and toss in 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil (or lightly spray with olive oil spray) until the fries are coated.
  • Use pre-made dough to get snacks quickly and easily. Pre-made dough also requires a shorter preparation time than home-made dough.
  • Please a baking tin or oven dish in the fryer basket if you want to bake a cake or quiche or if you want to fry fragile ingredients or filled ingredients.
  • Pre-packed snacks like bread crumbed fish or chicken drumsticks only need to be coated lightly with olive oil.
  • You can also use the air fryer to heat ingredients. To heat ingredients, set the temperature to 302°F for up to 10 minutes.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE


Make sure to disconnect appliance from power supply before cleaning.

  1. Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning. Clean it after every use.

information TIP
Remove the pan to let the air fryer cool down faster.

  • Do not immerse the housing of the appliance in liquid when cleaning. Do not touch any hot surface.
  • Do not use harsh abrasives cleaners or oven cleaners when cleaning this appliance.
  1. Wipe the outside and inside of the appliance with a slightly damp.
  2. Clean the pan and basket with hot water, washing-up liquid and a non-abrasive sponge.
    warning NOTE The pan and basket are dishwasher-safe.
    information TIP If food is stuck to the basket or the bottom of the pan, fill the pan with hot water and dishwashing liquid, place the basket in the pan and soak for about 10 minutes.
  3. If required, lightly brush the heating element to remove any food residue.
  4. Make sure all parts are clean and dry before storing or using it again.
  5. Store the air fryer in a safe, cool, dry place. Do not place heavy objects on top of the air fryer during storage as this may damage the appliance. Keep it away from children.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE Solution
The fryer doesn't work.
  • The appliance is not plugged in.
Plug in to a grounded power outlet.
The food is not done.
  • The amount of food is too large.
  • The set temperature is too low.
  • The preparation time is too short.
  • Place smaller batches of ingredients in the basket. Smaller batches are cooked more evenly.
  • Set the temperature control to the required temperature setting (see COOKING TIPS).
  • Set the timer to the required preparation time (see COOKING TIPS).
The ingredients are fried unevenly.
  • Certain types of foods need to be tossed halfway during the cooking process.
  • Ingredients that lie on top of or across each other (e.g. fries) need to be tossed halfway during the cooking process.
Snacks are not crispy. The type of snacks used are meant to be prepared in a traditional deep fryer.
  • Use oven snacks or lightly brush some oil onto the snacks for a crisper result.
Can't slide the pan into the appliance properly.
  • The basket is too full.
  • The basket is not placed in the pan properly.
  • Do not fill the ingredients over the "MAX" mark in the basket.
  • Push the basket down into the pan until you hear aclick.
White smoke comes out from the appliance.
  • The food prepared is greasy.
  • The pan still contains grease residues from previous use.
  • When greasy ingredients are cooked, a large amount of oil will leak into the pan. The oil produces white smoke and the pan may heat up more than usual. This does not affect the appliance or the end result.
  • White smoke is caused by grease heating up in the pan. Make sure you clean the pan properly after each use.
Fresh fries are fried unevenly in the fryer.
  • Did not use the right potato type.
  • The potatos were not properly rinsed.
  • Use fresh potatoes and make sure that they stay firm during cooking.
  • Rinse the potato fries well to remove excess starch.
Fresh fries are not crispy.
  • The crispiness of the fries depends on the amount of oil and water in the fries.
  • Make sure you dry the potatoes well before you add the oil.
  • Cut the potato fries smaller for a crispier result.
  • Add slightly more oil for a crisper result.

RECIPES

Tex-Mex Hash Browns

1 lb potatoes, peeled and cubed;
1 tbsp olive oil;
1 red bell pepper, seeded, cut in 1" pieces;
1 small onion, cut in 1" pieces;
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded, cut in 1" rings

seasoning mix: 1/2 tsp olive oil;
1/2 tsp taco seasoning mix;
1/2 tsp ground cumin;
salt & ground black pepper to taste

  • Soak potatoes in cool water for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer to 320°F.
  • Drain the potatoes, dry them with a clean towel, and transfer to a large bowl.
  • Drizzle 1 tbsp olive oil over the potatoes and toss to coat.
  • Add them to the preheated air fryer basket. Set the timer for 18 minutes.
  • Put bell pepper, onion, and jalapeno in the bowl previously used for the potatoes.
  • Sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon olive oil, taco seasoning, ground cumin, salt and pepper. Toss to coat.
  • Transfer potatoes from the air fryer to the bowl with the vegetable mixture.
  • Return the empty basket to the air fryer and raise the temperature to 360°F.
  • Quickly toss the contents of the bowl to mix the potatoes evenly with the vegetables and seasoning. - Transfer mixture into the basket.
  • Cook for 6 minutes, shake the basket, and continue cooking until potatoes are browned and crispy, about 5 minutes more. Serve immediately.

Zucchini Chips

1 cup bread crumbs,
3/4 cup grated cheese,
1 medium zucchini, sliced,
1 egg, beaten,
cooking spray

  • Preheat Air Fryer to 350°F.
  • Combine bread crumbs and grated cheese on a plate.
  • Dip zucchini slice in egg, then coat with the bread crumbs & cheese mixture.
  • Place them on a cooking rack and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  • Place the slices in the bottom of the Air Fryer basket without overlapping.
  • Cook for 8 minutes, flip with tongs, cook for 4 more minutes.
  • Remove and repeat with the remaining slices.

Italian Meatballs

2 tbsp olive oil;
1 medium shallot, minced;
3 cloves garlic, minced;
1/4 cup bread crumbs;
2 tbsp milk;
1 lb lean ground beef;
1 large egg, lightly beaten;
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley;
1 tbsp chopped rosemary;
1 tbsp chopped thyme;
1 tbsp Dijon mustard;
1/2 tsp salt

  • Preheat air-fryer to 400°F. Heat oil in a medium nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Add shallot and cook until softened, 1 to 2 minutes. Add garlic and cook just until fragrant, 1 minute. Remove from heat.
  • In a large bowl, combine bread crumbs and milk. Let stand 5 minutes.
  • Add cooked shallot and garlic to bread crumbs mixture, along with beef, egg, parsley, rosemary, thyme, mustard, salt and mix well.
  • Shape mixture into 1.5" balls, place them in a single-layer in the air-fryer basket. Cook at 400°F until lightly browned and cooked-through, approx. 10 minutes. Remove and keep warm. Repeat with remaining meatballs.
  • Serve warm meatballs as an appetizer or over pasta, rice, or spiralized zoodles for a main dish.
