Calibration

Altimeters calculate altitude on the basis of air pressure. For this reason, any altimeter has to be recalibrated prior to use owing to daily fluctuations in air pressure. The altimeter has to be reset at a known altitude (e.g. at home, at a railway station, mountain cottage, etc.) to this altitude.

Turning on digital display

Press and hold the Cross and Shield for 4 seconds until information appears on the display. Either the temperature or the altitude will appear depending on how long the display was last set. To toggle between Altitude and Temperature modes, press the Cross and Shield.

To increase the elevation displayed, press the Shield repeatedly while the arrow is up. To decrease the elevation, press the Shield repeatedly while the arrow is down. Once the display shows the correct elevation, wait 4 seconds until the display stops flashing. The display will switch itself off automatically after 15 minutes if not in use.

IMPORTANT

The altitude is displayed with a delay in order to substantially extend battery life. For this reason, a Victorinox Altimeter may not be used to measure altitudes during parachuting or similar types of speed/air pressure sports.

MAINTENANCE

Extend each implement halfway, then apply a few drops of oil at the base of that implement. For blades that do not move easily, open and close a few times in warm water, then dry and oil. This care will ensure a lifetime of faithful service.
MAINTENANCE - Lubrication

DEVICE BATTERY CHANGE

The Altimeter comes equipped with a 3 volt lithium battery (Panasonic CR 1225, 3V). To change the battery, use the mini-screwdriver to open the battery compartment and replace the battery (see illustration below).
