MNT Reform Camera
Dear MNT Customer,
thank you for purchasing the MNT Reform Camera, an
open and customizable solution for HD video recording.
We hope you will enjoy it.
Operation
The camera is designed for the MNT Reform open
hardware laptop and includes a mounting clamp with a
knurled screw that you can use to attach it to the top of
the display housing. The camera can also be used with
any other USB capable computer—it has a Type-C
connector with USB 3.0 and 2.0 signals on the back.
The modular case is made from durable CNC milled,
bead blasted, black anodized aluminum. The nylon clip-
on grip allows the camera to rotate/tilt in 2 axes.
The U-shaped tilting mount has a UNC 1/4 inch thread,
making it compatible with standard camera mounting
equipment such as tripods.
As a standard USB Video Class Device, the MNT Reform
Camera works with any operating system such as Linux,
macOS and Windows and does not require special
drivers.
The camera's standard sensor and 120 degree S-Mount
lens are fixed-focus. To adjust the focus, carefully rotate
the lens slightly in either direction.

• Do not open the case while device is plugged in.
Warranty
MNT Research covers the warranty to the extent re‐
quired by law for the unmodified product and following
the safety instructions. Warranty does not cover any
modifications made to the product.

Firmware and OSHW Sources
The original firmware source for the Cypress (now
Infineon) CX3 chip targeting the OV5640 sensor is not
strictly open source, but source-available. You can get a
copy at https://softwaretools.infineon.com/tools/
com.ifx.tb.tool.ezusbfx3sdk after creating an account.
There are also copies on GitHub, but we can't vouch for
their legitimacy.
To enter bootloader mode, bridge the pads of
unpopulated switch SW1.
