HI-FI STEREO SOUND WITH BUILT-IN
MTS/SAP DECODER
Record stereo
videotapes from stereo sound sources and
playback pre-recorded hi-fi stereo tapes in hi-fi
stereo sound–with an excellent 90dB+ dynamic
range–through a stereo-equipped TV or regular
TV and stereo hi-fi home audio system. The
built-in MTS/SAP decoder allows reception and
recording of off-air television stereo broadcasts
and second audio program transmissions, where
available. Backup memory logic retains the cable
channel guide map indefinitely even during a
power failure or when the VCR is disconnected
from its power source.

Simplifies
VCR programming by allowing you to simply
enter PlusCode
®
programming numbers found
in many published television listings. When
recording begins, your VCR automatically
selects the proper TV channel and program
length. Backup memory logic retains the cable
channel guide map indefinitely even during a
power failure or when the VCR is disconnected
from its power source.
ONE-TOUCH RECORD
Record up to eight
hours or to the end of the tape with the touch of
a single button. Each touch of the OTR button
adds 30 minutes of additional recording time.
8-EVENT/1 YEAR SMART PROGRAMMING
Program your VCR for unattended recording of
up to eight separate programs over a full 365-
day period. No manual setting, adjusting, or pro-
gramming of the calendar function is required.

Combines direct drive cylinder and capstan
motors with a precision digital servo control to
produce excellent special effects reproduction in
Still and Slow modes in both SP and SLP speeds.
DIGITAL AUTO TRACKING SYSTEM
When
tape playback begins, this feature automatically
seeks the optimum tracking position in the
tracking range, and the optimum audio signal
tracking position for clearest picture and sound
from videotapes. Controls are provided on the
remote transmitter to give you manual control
should tracking adjustments be necessary.
AUTO HEAD CLEANER
Gently, automatically
cleans the video head each time a tape is inserted or
removed to maintain optimum picture performance
during both recording and playback.
SMARTCLOCK™
Once activated, this menu-
driven feature will automatically maintain the
correct time, regularly checking and updating the
time if necessary. This function will also reset the
clock after a power failure.The menu-driven time
zone feature allows selection of appropriate time
for those who live in a time zone other that that
of their CATV service provider.

AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SETUP
Activating this
feature allows the VCR tuner to scan through
television frequencies, automatically storing active
broadcast channels into memory.Then, only active
channels programmed into memory are tuned,
using the channel up/down buttons on either the
remote or front panel of the VCR. Automatic
channel preset can be repeated whenever desired,
should new channels become available. Channels
can be manually added or deleted.
FRONT PANEL AUDIO/VIDEO INPUTS
Provide
added convenience to the user when recording tapes
directly from a camcorder to the VCR. In addition,
accessory video equipment such as a video game or
CD-i player can be connected for direct playthrough
to the TV set.
181-CHANNEL FS TUNING
The digital quartz
tuner is capable of receiving up to 181 channels,
including UHF, VHF, and 113 cable channels, without
the inconvenience and expense of a cable company
decoder/converter (on non-scrambled cable systems).
Channel tuning is by random access with the remote
control transmitter or scan tuning up and down by
remote or at the set.

Continuously alerts
the user to all important recording and playback
conditions, correct time, counter position, tape speed,
channel number, etc. When the VCR is turned off, the
time display automatically dims, to make it less distracting.

Indicates record/playback
functions, channel number, clock setting, date,
counter, programming, one-touch record and record
standby, keeping the user alerted to the status of all
features in a heads up, on-screen display.
ON-SCREEN, REAL-TIME COUNTER WITH
TIME SEARCH
Unlike the 0000 to 9999 tape
counters found in standard VCRs, this unit
incorporates a linear, real-time counter which
shows elapsed recording and/or playback time in
hours, minutes, and seconds. Now you can
advance or return to selected tape segments in any
time increment you desire.
TIMER/PROGRAMMER BACKUP SYSTEM
timer programming information for up to one full
minute in the event of momentary power interruptions.
REPEAT PLAY
When the VCR recognizes no
recorded signal or reaches the end of a tape with
the Repeat Play control activated, it will
automatically rewind to the beginning and enter
the play mode again. Repeat Play can be
discontinued by touching the button a second time
or by changing operation mode.
QUICK START MECHANISM
Quickly and
effortlessly switches the tape mechanism from Stop to
Play in only one second, instead of the approximately
5 1/4 seconds of older models.
AUDIO/VIDEO INPUT/OUTPUT JACKS
your VCR to the direct audio and video inputs of a
television receiver or monitor equipped with input
jacks, for better picture and sound quality during tape
playback. Jacks also allow a second VCR to be
connected for editing and/or duplicating personally
recorded, non-copyrighted videotapes.

15X FORWARD/REVERSE LATCHING SEARCH
in forward or reverse mode at 15 times normal playing
speed in SLP. The Latching Search feature provides
continuous forward or reverse search with a single touch
of the control. A second touch stops the search operation
and returns the unit to the Play mode.
