Thank you for purchasing a Taylor® Thermocouple Probe Thermometer with K-type Probe. Please
read this instruction manual carefully before use. Keep these instructions handy for future
reference. Please remember to keep the unit away from children and do not use it for safety
related applications.
THERMOCOUPLE PROBE
The K-type thermocouple probe is used to measure internal food temperature quickly and
accurately. To use, insert the plug of a K-type thermocouple probe into the thermocouple socket on
the unit.
THERMOCOUPLE PROBE FUNCTION
After installing the probe, press the ' ' (Power) button to turn the unit on. Then simply insert the
probe into the food to be measured for a reading. The unit will continuously display temperatures
for up to 5 minutes. After that, the unit will automatically shut off to preserve battery life. Or, press
and hold the ' ' button for 3 seconds to turn the unit off manually.
1. Placing stress on the probe may cause breakage.
2. After measuring high temperatures, the probe may remain HOT for a while. Allow the probe
to cool before touching.
3. Use caution while handling the probe to avoid injury. Keep probe out of reach of children.
The probe may be damaged if used to measure a temperature that exceeds the specification
of the measurement temperature range.
To avoid electric shock and thermometer damage, do not measure a live circuit where the
voltage exceeds 24V AC RMS or 60V CD with the thermocouple probe.
°F OR °C MODE
To switch between '°F' and '°C', press the ' ' (Power) button to turn the unit on, then press the
'"◦F/◦C' button to switch between temperature scales.
HOLD FEATURE
When the digital display has been stabilized, press the "HOLD" button and the temperature will be
held ("Hold" will appear). Press again to release
BACKLIGHT FEATURE
The backlight will activate for 15 seconds when any button is pressed while the units is on.

RECALIBRATION
If recalibration is necessary, suspend probe at least 1" into a 'slush' of crushed ice and water (32°
F) for at least 1 minute. Keep the probe from touching the container bottom or sides. Press the
"HOLD" button 3 times. "CALu" flashes on the LCD, indicating the thermometer is in calibration
mode. The calibration will reset to zero and the thermometer will automatically return to normal
temperature measurement.
LCD ERROR MESSAGES
The thermometer incorporates visual diagnostic messages as follows:
'HHH' or 'LLL' is displayed when the temperature being measured is outside of
the measurement range.
'Lo' indicates a low battery warning. Replace both batteries at the same time.
"ERR" is displayed when the thermometer is exposed to temperatures exceeding
122°F (50°C). Move the thermometer away from the heat source for at least 2
minutes until "ERR" disappears.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
The thermometer operates on 2 AAA batteries (included).
1. Remove any plastic wrap from the batteries before proceeding.
2. Loosen the screw on the battery compartment cover on the back of the thermometer and
remove the compartment.
3. Install 2 "AAA" batteries into the battery compartment according to the "+" and "-" polarity
symbols in the battery compartment.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover and tighten the screw.
