7 Obligations of the installer and operating company
• at too high temperatures at the PTC thermistors
inserted in the motor,
• after a short circuit in the PTC thermistor circuit,
• after a wire break in the PTC thermistor circuit,
• after the supply voltage fails in all three phases.
As soon as the protective system responds, the
green operating indicator light on the underside of
the unit goes out.
Once all causes of faults have been eliminated,
the connected motor does not restart automatic-
ally. It can only be switched on again manually
(restart interlock).
7 Obligations of the installer and
operating company
• We would like to point out that additional safety
regulations must be observed during installation
and operation of the PTC resistor triggering
system, e.g. Directive 1999/92/EC (implemen-
ted in Germany with the Ordinance on Industrial
Safety and Health) and national accident pre-
vention regulations.
• During installation, observe the applicable in-
stallation regulations, e.g., according to VDE
0100 and EN 60079-14.
• MAICO is not liable for damages caused by im-
proper use.

8 Ambient/operating conditions

• Permissible ambient temperature → rating
plate.
9 Installation, electrical connec-
tion
Installation instructions
• The unit must not be disassembled. The tem-
porary removal of the cover during unit installa-
tion is the only exception to this restriction.

DANGER Risk of electric shock
Observe the safety rules of electrical engineering.
Before taking off covers and before installing the
electrics, shut down all supply circuits, switch off
mains fuse, check that no voltage is present, se-
cure against being accidentally switched back on
and position a visible warning sign.
Observe the applicable regulations for electrical
installations, e.g., EN 50110-1 and EN 60079-14,
in Germany in particular VDE 0100 with the cor-
responding parts → in case of non-observance
danger due to electric shock, fire or short circuit.
Do not switch on the unit until it is completely as-
sembled. Do not commission a damaged unit.
Prevent from being switched back on until fully
repaired.
Only connect the PTC thermistor triggering sys-
tem according to the circuit diagram/wiring dia-
gram. A fixed electrical installation is mandatory.
Note the voltage and frequency stated on the rat-
ing plate.
Perform a function test after completing mainten-
ance and repair work.
The degree of protection stated on the rating
plate is only guaranteed if installation is under-
taken correctly and if the connection cable is cor-
rectly guided into the housing.
The housing cover must be properly fitted so that
the surrounding seal is tight against the lower
part of housing all the way around.
Installation
1. Open the housing by loosening the two locking
screws on the cover.
