TLS-GD2 LOCKING SAFETY SWITCH
Conduit
Adapter
CE
c@use
Tilis switch is designed for machine systems that have
an inherent run-down time and present a hazard to
personnel even after the stop button has been pressed.
Tilis switch locks the guard until the machine power is
isolated. It also ensures that the machine remains
electrically isolated while the guard is open. It provides
three safety contacts and two auxiliary contacts.
The guard may only be opened when a signal is
applied to the internal solenoid which releases the
lock mechanism. This signal can be provided by an
optional timer or a stopped-motion detector. The
locking system on this switch holds the actuator
closed with 450 pounds of force. If power is lost, a
Tone screwdriver can be used to override mechanical
releases built into the switch. An LED indicator on
the lid shows the switch status.
The rotating head provides four actuator entry points.
There is one on the front, two on the end, and one on
the back. Each switch includes an actuator and ½"
NPT conduit adapter. The conduit adapter can be
mounted in any of the three positions provided. This
switch is also available with a fully flexible actuator.
This optional actuator can aid in alignment of the
actuator and switch when interlocking swinging doors.
INSTALLATION
1. Determine the mounting position for the switch
and actuator.
2. Loosen and remove all cover screws using the fur
nished Tooc bit.

3. Determine the entry position for the actuator. If it will
not be on the front entry A or on the bottom entry C
(standard position). loosen and remove the screws
which are holding the actuator entry cover in place.
4. Remove the white M5 plugs holding the actuator
block in place, using a %2 Allen wrench. Pull the
actuator block straight out and rotate it so the
entry points are now in the top position on the
bottom of the switch B and on the back of the
switch D . See Figure 1.

5. Push the actuator block into position. Release the
locking mechanism to slide it completely into
position.
6. Replace the white M5 plugs with MS fasteners.
Refasten the actuator entry cover using the origi
nal fasteners.
7. Drill and tap holes where the switch and actuator
will be mounted. See Figure 2. When mounting this
switch, make sure dirt cannot fall into the entry
slots, since this could shorten the life of the switch.
A plug is furnished for the unused entry slot.
