Assembly and settings made by the manufacturer must never be altered. It is dangerous to change the structure of the device on your own authority, to remove parts or to use parts which are not approved by the manufacturer.

This device is only to be used with CF211 butane canisters from CFH. These standard cartridges are easy to find in a DIY store. It can be dangerous if you try to connect other types of gas cartridges or gas canisters. Mixing devices and cartridges from different manufacturers can also result in serious accidents and damage! CFH will waive all warranty claims for any damage caused when using third-party cartridges. Never connect a gas canister (190 g cartridge) without first reading the instructions listed on it.

Use the device in well ventilated areas only.

Safety instructions

Please read these instructions for use carefully before you attach the gas cartridge and get to know the device first. Keep the instructions in a safe place for future consultation, if needed.

Do not use the device to light a charcoal barbeque as the heat reflected from the glowing charcoal might deform the plastic part – risk of injury!

  • Connect the canister in a well-ventilated environment that is free of flames or ignition sources, such as open flames, electric cooking appliances and well away from other people.
  • Keep well away from heat/sparks/naked flames/hot surfaces. Do not smoke.
  • Do not smoke when changing the gas cartridge.
  • Always check to ensure that the seals (between the device and the gas canister or gas bottle) are fitted, and that they are in a good condition before you connect the gas canister or gas bottle (see Drawing IV, no. 8 – Visual inspection).
  • Do not use a device with a damaged or worn out gasket.
  • Do not use a leaking or damaged device or a device not working properly.

Abide by the safety instructions listed on the cartridge.
  • Keep the device out of the reach of children.
  • The device must not be used by children.
  • Do not shake the device before igniting or during operation as this could stop the liquid gas from flowing into the burner. This can also cause ignition problems and faults in the device's combustion properties (e.g. an uncontrollable, reddish blazing flame). If this happens, then the gas supply must be shut off immediately by turning the gas regulator knobs (No. 3 and 4) in the (-) direction. Then no more uncontrolled gas can escape. The device will be ready for use again after 2 – 3 minutes.
  • Replacing a cartridge must always be done outdoors and well away from any possible igniti-on sources such as open flames, electric hotplates, etc., and well away from other people and animals. Always shut off the gas regulator knobs (no. 3 and 4) before replacing the canister.
  • Cartridges are disposable canisters. Refilling is not permitted as it involves imminent dangers.
  • Do not work indoors. Adequate ventilation must be present for ensuring the supply of com-bustion air. Operate in a clean work place, far from combustible materials or greasy materials. Ensure that you never inhale soldering or welding gases. Wear grease-free protective clothing. Wear eye googles.
  • Very high temperatures are reached around the device's burner during normal operation.

  • Do not put down the ignited burner. Do not leave the machine unattended while it's running. Be aware that the cartridge might become warm or even heat up.

  • accessible parts can get very hot. Keep infants away from the device. Avoid touching the burner while it is hot. When the device is not used, store it protected from dust and humidity.
  • Shut off the gas regulator knobs (no. 3 and 4) immediately if the flame is blown out by a gust of wind, so that no more gas can escape.
  • burn hazard Never use the device near flammable materials or heat-sensitive products. Keep a distance of at least 50 cm away from adjacent surfaces (wall, ceiling). At shorter distances you must always use a suitable flame protection mat to reduce the risk of fire (available in many DIY stores).
  • Never leave the device unattended during operation. Beware of heat build-up! Wear suitable working gloves, and do not inhale toxic fumes.
  • Never remove a CFH butane canister if it is full or even partially full as this is dangerous! Risk of injuries!
  • Place the unit on a horizontal, stable and non-slip surface.
  • The device is only to be used in a well-ventilated area. National standards apply to:
    • supplying combustion air
    • preventing the build-up of dangerous quantities of unburned gas.
  • The device must never be used in the vicinity of heat sources, flames or sparks, dust accumulations or flammable substances. The device is only to be used at a safe distance from flammable materials – keep a safe distance of at least 0.5 m away from all objects as well as a distance of at least 1 m away from any objects above the device.
  • The gas canister must be replaced in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors and well away from any ignition sources such as naked flames, pilot lights, electric cooking appliances and well away from other people.

Test for Leaks

Check the tightness of your device outdoors only. Check to ensure that the connecting seal and the cartridge are tightly connected. Do this by immersing the device up to the collar of the screw connection between the burner and the canister's upper section (see Drawing V) in a tank filled with water for at least 60 seconds (slight tilting movements will allow any excess air in the cavities to escape). The device is leaking if you can see bubbles. Never use a device with damaged or worn seals. Do not use a leaking or damaged device or a device not working properly. If gas leaks out of your device (you can smell gas), take it out immediately to a place with a good air circulation with no inflammable sources, where you can look for the leak and fix it. The tightness of your device must only be checked outdoors. Never use a flame to try to locate a leak, always use soapy water!

Measures to be taken before connecting the gas canister

Make sure that all attachments and other connections are correctly connected and nothing is damaged. Check the gas-carrying parts for damage. Never use a device that shows signs of damage. Always shut off the gas regulator knobs (no. 3 and 4) on the device before you connect a canister. Always check the seal before you connect a new gas canister. Always ensure that there is a black rubber seal around the piercing pin in the upper section of the soldering lamp (Drawing IV, no. 8), and that it is in a good condition (visual inspection). If this is damaged or missing, the device cannot be operated. Replacement seals must only be fitted by authorised dealers. Never tamper with the device! It is very important that always before you light the flame on the burner, you make sure that all parts are tightly connected.

Mounting and replacing a CFH butane cartridge

When inserting the cartridge, always ensure that both the gas regulator knob (no. 4) for the extraction valve on the upper section (no. 5) as well as the one on the handle (no. 3) are both shut before you screw the upper and lower sections together (no. 5 and 7). Unscrew the lower section (no. 7), and then insert the canister (no. 6) in the canister container (no. 7). At the same time, you should check that the black rubber seal (no. 8) is in place in the upper section (no. 5) on the inside around the piercing pin, and that it is in good condition. The device must not be operated if the seal is missing. Ask your dealer or CFH for original rubber gaskets. Ensure that you hold the device vertically, that you screw it together quickly and that the threads are not crossed. A leak test must be carried out after each assembly and every time you change the cartridge (see Section 3). Make sure that the cartridge is empty before you change it (shake it to hear if the liquid is sloshing). Check that the burners have gone out before you loosen the gas cartridge or gas bottle. Check the seals before you connect a new gas cartridge or gas cylinder to the device. Undo the lower section (No. 7) from the upper section (No. 5) by turning it counter-clockwise. Always change the gas canister or gas bottle outdoors and well away from other people. Keep the canister and the device out of the sunlight (exposure to heat). Do not use in temperatures above 50°C.

How to operate the device

After you have inserted the canister, you should then open the gas regulator knob (no. 4) on the upper section (no. 5). Then open the gas regulator knob (no. 3) on the handle (no. 2) by about half a turn and ignite the gas flame at the burner's tip (no. 1). Hold the device so that it is not tilted to ensure that the gas will not flow into the hose during the liquid phase. Prevent the gas hose from becoming twisted. The pressurised gas canister's lower section can also be used as the device's contact surface.

Flame adjustment

Use the gas regulator knobs (no. 3 and 4) to adjust the flame by turning them in the "+" or "-" directions.

Shutting down the device

The gas supply will be shut off if you turn the gas regulator knob (no. 4) on the upper section (no. 5) to the right (clockwise). The quantity of gas remaining in the hose will burn off rea-also has original spare parts or have CFH customer service carry them out. Do not modify the device in any way. If the device is damaged or needs to be returned to the manufacturer or to a repair service centre, please contact the store where you purchased the device or the manufacturer.

Cleaning the device

To clean the device, wait until the burner has cooled down and use a dry cloth. Do not use a cleaning agent as it might clog up the burner's holes and the gas nozzle.

Environmental instructions

The gas filling consists of environmentally friendly LPG and poses no danger to the environment or the ozone layer. Follow the regulations for liquid gas.
