INSTALLATION TIPS

Patio Top Installation: Fire pits should never be installed atop a patio surface. Rather, the fire
pit should be "cut in" to the patio surface to avoid damage to the patio.
Base Preparation: Build fire pit, on level ground, as shown in the assembly detail.
Check Squareness: After completing the first layer of block, check squareness by measuring
the diagonals with a tape measure. Adjust block as necessary.
Block Pattern: Alternate block direction with each layer. Place the square liner into the
completed assembly.
Steel Liner Alignment: In the completed installation, the steel liner should rest evenly on the top
layer of block.

INSTALLATION NOTES

1. Familiarize yourself with the construction details shown on this page.
2. Mark out the location for your fire pit. Note dimensions shown are nominal so mark an area
slightly larger than shown.
3. Excavate for drain stone base (approx. 6")
4. Fill excavated area with drain stone, level, and compact.
5. Place blocks according to the installation detail (measure across the diagonals to ensure
squareness)
6. Once all blocks are laid out, place the steel liner into the center opening. It will rest atop the
blocks.
7. Fill the the firepit opening with additional drainstone 1" above the bottom of the liner to secure
it into place.
8. WARNING! Do not place the fire pit directly atop a patio surface. Instead, the fire pit should be
"cut in" to the patio surface to avoid damage to the patio caused by conductive heat transfer.
Gas conversion kits are available.
