READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE
DAMAGE DUE TO FREEZING IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY.
WHEN PLANNING TO INSTALL AND OPERATE THE WATER HEATER IN AREAS WHERE THE OUTSIDE AIR CAN REACH FREEZING
TEMPERATURES, IT IS IMPORTANT TO PROTECT THE WATER HEATER FROM FREEZE DAMAGE.
* INSTALLATION AND SERVICE OF THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE PERFORMED BY A QUALIFIED INSTALLER. FURTHERMORE, IT IS STRONGLY
RECOMMENDED TO USE AN INSTALLER WHO WORKS REGULARLY WITH VENTILATION SYSTEMS TO PERFORM THE INSTALLATION.
**
WHEN INSTALLING, ALWAYS CONFORM WITH LOCAL CODES OR, IN THE ABSENCE OF LOCAL CODES, TO THE NATIONAL FUEL
GAS CODE, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 (USA), OR THE NATURAL GAS AND PROPANE INSTALLATION CODE, CSA B149.1 (CANADA).
During freezing temperatures, ensure the water heater and its water lines are protected against freezing. In the
event of a power failure or when installing in a cabin or secondary residence that is not heated all year long,
the water heater should be drained manually to prevent freezing damage. To do this, blow compressed air into the
water inlet to drain any water remaining in the heat exchanger piping

FREEZE DAMAGE RECOMMENDATIONS RELATED TO COMBUSTION AIR AIR INTAKE
This water heater can be installed in one of two types of application for the air intake:

WARNING: RISK OF FREEZE DAMAGE
DRAINING THE WATER HEATER
**
With Non-Direct Vent, there is no risk of freezing damage since the combustion air is drawn
from the heated room. Please see
tion of the air
intake.**
The Non-Direct Vent application has the advantage of being a simpler and easier installation
than the Direct Vent application.
It is not recommended to install the water heater in an enclosed space such as a closet when
using the Non-Direct Vent application.
When using the Non-Direct Vent application, it is important to ensure su cient air
volume for the air intake. For the required volume of indoor air, please refer to local codes or,
in the absence of local codes, to the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/FPA 54 (USA), or the
Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.1 (Canada).
