1.1 General information
WARNING: it is imperative that these instructions be observed and refer-
enced when using this range of products. The selection and use of these
products are the exclusive responsibility of the individual operator and
Corpro suggest a Health and Safety professional is consulted to aid in the
selection of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
WARNING: For use with the Corpro F1200 range of filters only. This prod-
uct is not a complete system in itself and requires use with the approved
Corpro filters. Be sure to read the F1200 user instructions in advance of use.
The HM1500 mask is de-signed to be used with both the F1200 Inhale filter
& F1200 Exhale filter (F1200 Exhale filter has equivalent performance to P2).
WARNING: Facial hair should be removed in advance of wearing tight-fit-
ting respirators such as the Corpro HM1500. Facial hair may reduce the
effectiveness of the seal between the mask and face. If an individual cannot
remove facial hair for personal or religious reasons, they should speak to an
appropriate Respiratory Health and Safety individual within their organisation
to discuss respiratory protection options.
This product should not be used:
• In oxygen-deficient or oxygen-enriched environments.
• In atmospheres where contaminant concentrations exceed levels which
are dangerous to life.
• For escape purposes.
This device is designed to protect individuals from respiratory hazards.
Inappropriate use, maintenance or servicing may affect the functioning of
the device and therefore may seriously injure or compromise users lives.
This product contains no electrical parts which may cause an ignition
source in flammable or explosive atmospheres, but holds no approval for
use in such environments.
1.2 Fitting your F1200 filters to your respirator
PLEASE SEE THE F1200 FILTER USER INSTRUCTIONS.
1.3 Pre-use checks
Check: BEFORE EVERY USE THESE CHECKS MUST BE CARRIED OUT.
• The respirator and all its components are clean and dry.
• The respirator and all its components are generally free from dirt,
cracks or damage.
• The seals are fully intact and correctly attached to the mask.
• You have 1 x Inhale F1200 filter and 1 x Exhale F1200 filter.
• The accompanying filters are free from damage and are mounted onto
the respirator correctly (make sure the Inhale and Exhale filters are
attached to the correct ports).
• The respirator and the accompanying filters are within their expiration
dates. See section 1.4.
1.4 Donning: See Reference imagery
1. For first time use, ensure both your straps are released from the locked
position. The strap is 'unlocked' when the strap is positioned over the
locking tabs inside of the front cover.
2. Also loosen all straps prior to donning when using for the first time.
3. Fasten buckles around your neck and slightly tighten straps if
necessary.
4. Securely locate the head cradle/harness on the crown of your head.
5. Adjust the mask and straps until secure and comfortable. The tension
in the straps above and below the oronasal should be balanced.
6. Cover filter openings with your hands and perform a fit check. For fit
checking procedure, please see section 1.6.
To avoid refitting after each donning:
• Lock the straps in place.
• Open the front cover of the mask and secure the strap under the
locking tabs.
• Ensure tension in the straps above and below the oronasal in balanced
and tug the straps both above and below the front cover to make sure
the locking was successful.
• Repeat the process for both sides of the mask.
1.5 Doffing
• Remove head cradle/harness for temporary removal.
• OR remove neck straps for temporary removal.
• For full removal, release the head cradle/harness and then unlock the
neck straps.
1.6 Fit checking
Fit testing is different to fit checking. A fit test should be carried out as part
of the RPE selection process, before being worn in hazardous environments,
to establish the most adequate and suitable RPE for the wearer. This should
be performed at least once a year or after a long period of storage, and
should be undertaken by an accredited fit tester.
WARNING: A fit check is a procedure that should be performed by the
wearer every time they don their respiratory protective equipment, and
this confirms whether a seal has been achieved.
WARNING: Failure to achieve a proper face-to-respirator seal before
you enter a hazardous atmosphere may result in little or no respiratory
protection.
Other words/phases which can mean 'fit check':
• Negative pressure check
• Leak tightness check
Step-by-step guide:
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a unique product so the fit check process will
differ from those the user may be familiar with.
• Don your mask
• Place the palm of your hand over the Inhale filter opening, and hold the
Exhale filter in place (for balance).
• Inhale and hold your breath for ten seconds to check the seal against
your face. If fitted adequately, the inhaled breath should cause the
mask to press against your face and this should remain for the duration
of the inhale/hold. Also move your head to test if the seal holds.
• If leakage occurs, adjust your mask and perform the fit check again.
1.7 During use
WARNING: If you experience any of the following whilst wearing the
product, leave the hazardous area immediately and seek assistance.
• Breathing difficulty.
• Dizziness or nausea.
• You experience any other noticeable side effects.
• Your equipment becomes damaged.
