User Manual iQdata Backcooler CAUTION These operating instructions must be read thoroughly beforehand and followed while installing and operating the cooling unit. Retain these instructions for the entire usable life of the device. These instructions correspond to the state of technology at the time of introduction of the product into the market.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Safety General description The Backcooler is a high-performance cooling unit for cooling IT components, without additional fans. Particularly energy-efficient cooling is possible because of the low, air-side pressure drop. The heat is dissipated in the immediate vicinity of the origin, so that the room is not subject to thermal load.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Safety code The customer must retain this instruction manual and provide it to the respective personnel for installation, set up, use and maintenance. DANGER Dangerous situation is present and, if the measures are not followed, can lead to serious injuries and even death.

User Manual iQdata Backcooler Danger of operational- & failure safety CAUTION Work performed on the device by unqualified personnel, e.g. cleaning, maintenance or repair, can endanger the operational safety of the device. To ensure a long life of the device, the device must be regularly cleaned and serviced by qualified personnel.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Before starting any work on the interior of the device, disconnect it from the power supply and switch it off, and ensure that the device cannot be switched on accidentally. Only trained specialists should work on this system.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Technical data Proper use The Back Cooler is an air/water heat exchanger and is mounted directly on the rear of the IS-1 cabinet. Particularly high energy efficiency is achieved by eliminating the fans. A special adapter frame can be used to mount on the server racks by other manufacturers.

User Manual iQdata Backcooler Description General information The Backcooler is mounted directly on the rear side of the IS-1 cabinet, preventing warm server exhaust air from entering the server room installation room. The thermal energy from the IT components is taken up by the Backcooler without any additional fans and is conveyed to the re-cooling system by means of the cold water contained in it.

User Manual iQdata Backcooler Appositioning the cabinets together For appositioning the server cabinets, dismantle the sheet covering in the pipe module section. The appositioning is done at the same connection points as for fastening the side panels After the server cabinets are appositioned, re-install the sheet covering.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Connection to the cold water network Floor section, right door hinge Installation of pipes (Flexible hose) to the raised floor The connection from the Backcooler is done via flexible hoses, flat sealing 1" AG (DN 25).
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Filling the Backcooler with cold water The Backcooler is filled with cold water via the building network. For ventilating the heat exchanger, there is a vent valve (Schrader valve) above the door, which must be opened while filling to let the air escape from the cooling system.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Air separation of hot areas / cold area For adjusting the air separation to the respective IT components, this can be moved. The sealing is done with special brush strips, which guarantee high airtightness. Thereby, the hot section in the rack can be kept particularly small and the heat emission in the room is reduced to a minimum.

User Manual iQdata Backcooler Adjusting the air separation Loosen joints at the top and bottom on both sides; after that, the air separation can be shifted. Air pass partition plates To prevent air-side short circuits, special blank plates, height 1 HE, have been developed, which are arranged between the IT components.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Airflow rectifier / Filter The Backcooler is equipped with 2 units rectifiers, which simultaneously function as a filter, filter class G3 according to DIN EN 779. The rectifier (filter) has an average separation efficiency of 90%.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler Connection variants to the cooling system For separating the object network (primary) from the IT cooling (secondary), the iQdata Heat exchanger can be used. In this, a control system is integrated, which computes the dew point using humidity and air temperature and raises the setpoint of the IT cooling water temperature until no condensate can occur on the pipes and heat exchanger.
User Manual iQdata Backcooler The Tichelmann system is that the flowing water must cover the same pipe length all over. In the process, the lengths of the flow and return lines are considered together and for each Backcooler the pressure loss is the same, so that the cold water volume flow is spread evenly.
