HM-DW001
DOOR/WINDOW SENSOR
This Door/Window Sensor is designed to work with the Homemanageables Starter Kit. The
®
Door/Window Sensor is a Z-Wave
networking technology) and is fully compatible with any Z-Wave enabled network. Z-Wave
enabled devices displaying the Z-Wave logo can also be used with it regardless of the
manufacturer, and ours can also be used in other manufacturer's Z-Wave enabled networks.
Each module in a Homemanageables Network is designed to act as a repeater. Repeaters
will retransmit the RF signal to ensure that the signal is received by its intended destination
by routing the signal around obstacles and radio dead spots.
Adding the Door/Window Sensor to Homemanageables Network
This procedure is intended only for adding the Door/Window Sensor to a Homemanageables
Network. When using another manufacturer's software or hardware, follow their instructions.
Note that on the rear casing of the Door/Window Sensor, there is a tamper switch which is
used for programming (e.g., adding or removing from a network). To add the Lighting
Module to your Homemanageables Network, select "Add Device" in the Homemanageables
application and follow the instructions.

Installation
The Door/Window Sensor is suitable for mounting in dry, interior locations only.
Note: Take care when fixing the Door/Window Sensor to a metal frame, or mounting within 3
feet of metalwork (i.e. radiators, water pipes, etc.), as this could affect the radio range of the
device. If required, it may be necessary to space the magnet and sensor away from the
metal surface using a plastic or wooden spacer to achieve the necessary radio range.
You can mount the Door/Window Sensor and the magnet using either the enclosed adhesive
tape or screws.
1.
Check that the Door/Window Sensor was properly added to the Homemanageables
Network. Align the magnet with the sensor housing (ensure that the matching line on
the magnet is pointing towards and aligned with the line on the sensor) while the tamper
switch is not depressed. The LED should blink once. Remove the magnet, and the
LED will blink again. If this didn't occur, re-try the "Add Device" process.
2.
Remove the fixing screw from the bottom edge of the Door/Window Sensor. Remove the
rear cover.
3.
Fit the (3) 1.5V AAA batteries into the battery compartment.
4.
Using the rear cover as a template, mark the positions of the holes on the fixed part of
enabled device (interoperable, two-way RF mesh
the frame along the opening edge (opposite the hinges).
5.
If using the screws to mount the sensor, affix the rear cover to the frame using the two
wood screws (if necessary, use the supplied wall anchors). Do not over tighten the
screws as this may distort or damage the casing. Attach the sensor to the rear cover,
and reinsert the fixing screw.
6.
If using the adhesive tape, apply the tape to the rear cover. Align the rear cover with the
marks for the holes, and affix to the frame. Attach the sensor to the rear cover, and
reinsert the fixing screw. Do not over tighten the fixing screw.
7.
Align the magnet opposite the sensor. Ensure that the parallel gap between the magnet
and sensor is less than 10mm and that the matching line on the magnet is pointing
towards and aligned with the line on the sensor. Mark the positions of the holes on the
door/window.
8.
Affix the magnet to the moving part of the door/window opposite the sensor using the
adhesive tape or fixing screws.
Operation
1.
Opening the door/window to separate the magnet from the sensor will send the status of
"Open" to the Homemanageables application.
2.
Closing the door/window to align the magnet with the sensor will send the status of
"Closed" to the Homemanageables application.
3.
NORMAL OPERATION: AFTER THE SENSOR IS AFFIXED TO THE FRAME, THE
LED WILL NOT LIGHT AS THE TAMPER SWITCH IS DEPRESSED.
