One of the easiest things you can do to keep your Ovation sounding terrific is to replace your strings often. If you feel that your instrument sounds muted, does not sustain well, or is difficult to tune, it may be time to change your strings.

For a guitar with Fig. 3 a slotted headstock, the principle is the same although the string winding is rotated 90 degrees. Please refer to fig. 8 to see the resulting difference.
The contoured design transmits string vibrations more efficiently than most other designs. "Standard action" for all Ovation steel string guitars is 3/32" at the bass E string and 2/32" at the treble E string (measured as the distance between the bottom of the string and the top of the 12th fret).

If you are in doubt about the action setting of your Roundback, consult your Ovation Dealer. The saddle carries the string load to the top of your guitar. As the top and its supporting brace structure flexes with the environment, the saddle may settle into a position different than when set in the factory's controlled environment.

To adjust a Roundback with a Kaman Bar, find the Kaman Bar adjustment located at the heel of the neck on the inside of the bowl. Reaching inside the guitar, place the Ovation Adjustment Wrench (#950033-X, available from your Dealer) Fig.
