Introduction

The fever thermometer is an electronic temperature-measuring device with a flexible skin-friendly measuring tip, with which you can check the body temperature of your baby or someone who is ill in a very straight forward, uncomplicated and precise manner.

Tips

  • Please read the user guide before using the unit.
  • Do not place the device in water – it is not waterproof.
  • Do not clean the tip with hot water; it could get damaged.
  • After each reading clean the tip carefully with a dry cloth and disinfect with ethyl alcohol to prevent incorrect readings being taken.
  • Never expose the BS 31 to direct sunlight or extreme heat, as this might damage the display.
  • Never attempt to bend the thermometer using force.
  • Only unscrew the device when the batteries need changing.
  • On rectal temperature readings the device must be inserted carefully and no further than 1.5 cm. There is a risk of injury!
  • Do not leave in the vicinity of children or animals.
  • Repairs may only be carried out by authorised specialists.

Normal body temperature lies between 35.8°C and 38.0°C. Ideally you should take your own temperature and that of your family when you are fully fit, and write down the reading, so that in the event of illness you will be able to determine straightaway whether the patient has a temperature or not.

Operation

  1. Press the on/off switch. You will hear a beep.
  2. The last temperature reading appears for about 2 seconds on the LCD display.
  3. The display then flashes as it prepares the device for another reading.
  4. Once you hear a beep and the "Lo °C" display appears continuously, the device is ready for use.
  5. Now the flexible sensor can be used to take oral or rectal readings, or readings from under the armpits.
  6. It takes between 30 and 60 seconds to take a reading. The end of the reading is signalled by a beep.
  7. You can take another reading just as soon as the "°C" is displayed continuously.

The device switches off automatically 10 minutes after the last reading. However, to save the battery, always use the on/off switch to switch the device off after use.

Changing the battery

If the battery symbol is displayed, the batteries must be replaced. Just pull back the blue lid on the battery compartment. Now you can take out the discharged battery, insert a new one (type AG 3; SR 41; UCC 392 or LR 41) ensuring correct polarity, and put the blue lid back on.
