Possible causes of noise from a Maxair Series dryer connected to a compressor could include:

- High condenser temperature or pressure, possibly due to poor ventilation, dirty condenser fins, or a non-operating condenser cooling fan.
- Low gas pressure in the cooling system, possibly from low ambient temperature, gas leakage, or incorrect expansion valve/hot gas by-pass valve settings.
- Cooling sensor failure, where a broken or short-circuited sensor may cause abnormal operation.
- General mechanical operation of the dryer and compressor under high pressure and temperature.

Maintenance issues such as clogged filters or dirty condenser fins could also contribute to abnormal noise.
