Do not use without the appropriate guard in place and ensure it is correctly adjusted.
Do not use blades which are blunt as this increases the danger of kickback.
Any portion of the cutter block not being used for planing shall be guarded.
When planing or thicknessing short workpieces, a push-stick should be used.
check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, mounting and any other conditions that may affect operation.
If a guard or other part is damaged it should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service centre unless otherwise indicated in
this instruction manual.
stay alert - Watch what you are doing, use common sense and do not operate the tool when you are tired.
When not in use switch off the sM1314 and remove plug from the power supply.

3. AssEMBLY
WARNiNG! DO NOt plug the sM1314 into the mains power
supply until completely assembled.
NOTE! Pull out handle bars when you need to move the machine (Fig. A).
This unit is heavy and requires more than one person to move it.
NOTE! The SM1314 is secured to the base of the packing crate by four
bolts, undo the bolts to remove machine from crate. With assistance
tip the machine onto its side and screw the four rubber feet to the
bolt holes that were used to bolt the machine to the crate base.
3.1
FittiNG thE POWER sWitch cOLUMN.
3.1.1
the power switch column is attached by one bolt for shipping.
3.1.2
remove the single bolt holding the column to the sM1314.
3.1.3
turn the column so that it is upright and align the three mounting
holes on the column with those on the base.
3.1.4
using the three bolts supplied securely attach the column to the
base.
3.1.5
unlock the lockscrew on the column and raise the power switch
to the desired height and position, tighten the lockscrew.
NOTE! When raising the power switch column have an assistant feed the
wires through from inside the machine to prevent them from
snagging.
NOtE: the unit is fitted with a no-volt On/Off switch which
automatically switches off if the supply is interrupted (power
cut, socket switched off etc.) thereby preventing unexpected,
and therefore dangerous, start-up when the supply is
reconnected.
3.2.
sEttiNG ANGLE FENcE (fig. 1).
3.2.1
Assemble the fence mount using two M6 bolts (fig.1).
3.2.2
Attach the fence bracket to mount using the locking lever (fig.2).
3.2.3
remove one plastic end cap from the fence and slide the groove on
the rear of the fence over the two screws on the fence bracket.
tighten the two screws to secure the fence to the bracket.
3.2.4
Adjust the height of the fence bracket as desired, the fence base
should just contact the feeding table at 90°. You may set the fence
between 90° and 45°.
3.2.5
use a set square between the table and fence to determine 90° and
use the set bolts to ensure the fence stops at 90° & 45°.
3.3
AttAchiNG BLADE GUARD.
3.3.1
Loosely bolt the blade guard onto the planing table using the
locking lever (fig.3).
3.3.2
Insert the height adjusting screw ensuring that the washer and
spring are on the underside of the guard arm. Ensure the washer is
uppermost.
3.3.3
the locking lever need only be firmly tightened when the machine is
in use, any workpiece should be a firm sliding fit under the guard.
