It has been designed and manufactured based on years of experience on product development and manufacturing. By familiarizing yourself with the operator's manuals and following the instructions, you ascertain your safety and ensure the reliable operation and long service life of the equipment.

2. Designed purpose of use The AVANT Log cutter/splitter is an attachment that is suitable for use with AVANT compact loaders that are shown in Table 1. The attachment is intended to be used by one person at a time for cutting and splitting firewood.

8 (24) Risk of crushing - Never go or allow anyone else to go under the load, the loader boom or the attachment. The stability of the loader may change when leaving the driver’s seat, leading to tipping over of the machine. Always remember that the boom may lower unexpectedly due to loss of stability, mechanical fault, or if another person operates the controls of the loader, leading to crushing hazard.
9 (24) Risk of crushing - Going under the loader boom or an attachment can cause serious injury or death. Never go under the loader boom and prevent others from getting near DANGER lifted boom or attachment. Going under a raised attachment or loader boom is dangerous, as the boom may lower due to loss of stability, mechanical fault or when other person operates the controls of the loader.

Do not stay in the area between the attachment and the loader. Mount the attachment only on level surface. WARNING Never move or lift an attachment that has not been locked. Avant quick coupling system: Step 1: Lift the locking pins of the quick coupling plate of the loader up, and turn them backwards into the slot, so that they are locked in the upper position.
5.1 Connecting and disconnecting hydraulic hoses On Avant loaders the hydraulic hoses are connected using the multi connector system. If you have an older model Avant 300-700 series loader with the conventional quick couplers, and you want to change to the multi connector system, contact your Avant dealer or service point for instructions or installation services.

13 (24) Keep all fittings as clean as possible; use the protective caps on both the attachment and the loader. Dirt, ice, etc. may make using the fittings significantly more difficult. Never leave the hoses hanging on the ground; place the couplings onto the holder on the attachment.

15 (24) Clean the equipment thoroughly before starting the installation and make sure that i.e. dirt, dust or water will not enter the hydraulic components or the hydraulic oil. Keep the protective covers in place until the components can be installed directly. Follow safety procedures and wear proper personal protective equipment.

16 (24) 5.2.1.3 Tightening hydraulic fittings Tighten the fittings carefully according to given instructions and safety procedures. Keep in mind that over tightening will break a fitting. Tighten basic fittings carefully with hand tools using moderate torque. The elbow fittings should be tightened at last, after hoses have been fitted to their clamps. Allow the hydraulic systems of the loader and of the attachment to cool down completely before any work on hydraulic systems.

17 (24) Risk of high pressure fluid injection through skin - Never test the tightness of the hydraulic components by placing hands near the fittings. Never tighten a pressurized hydraulic fitting, since the fitting may break and the released oil may cause DANGER serious injuries.
18 (24) 6. Instructions for use Practise the use of the attachment and the controls of the loader in a safe area. If you are unfamiliar with the particular loader model, it is recommended to practice its use without any attachments. Once the Log cutter/splitter and its hydraulic hoses have been coupled according to the instructions, it is ready for work.
19 (24) 6.1 Checks before use Check the Log cutter/splitter and the operating area once more before starting to work. Quick inspection of the equipment and the operating area before use are parts of ensuring safety and the best performance of the equipment.
20 (24) 6.2 Operation Setting up the Log cutter/splitter 1. Choose a level working site, which can carry the load of the equipment and the logs. Clear the area from any obstacles that could cause a tripping hazard. The working area must not be slippery. 2.

21 (24) Activating and deactivating the log splitter: 1. Make sure the Log cutter/splitter is set to the working position, as described in this manual. 2. Adjust loader engine rpm so that hydraulic oil flow is within the recommended range. Never exceed the maximum hydraulic oil flow 30 l/min. Depending on the loader model, two hydraulic pumps may be used to reduce engine noise.

The log lifter makes it easier to lift large logs onto the in-feed conveyor. The hydraulic log lifter must not be used with Avant 400 series loaders due to the total weight of the attachment and lift capacity of the 400 series loaders.
Contact your AVANT dealer for parts and service. The manufacturer of the Log cutter/splitter grants a one year warranty for the Log cutter/splitter. Warranty terms are provided in the Japa Operator's manual. For warranty claims, contact your AVANT dealer for further information.
