InstallatIon Page 1 Installation steP 1: ensure cellular signal at fence mounting location 1. Take the monitor to a desired area where it can face South with good sunlight coverage. Put the monitor’s switch in the On position. For about 3 seconds the monitor will display a start up sequence of red, green and blue lights then will attempt to connect to the cellular network. Connecting to the network: The monitor will blink white indicating it is attempting to connect to the cellular network. (The amount of time it takes to connect to the network may vary depending on location) no cellular signal: If after attempting to connect to the network the light starts blinking red this indicates that the monitor was unable to find a cellular signal. InstallatIon (Cont.) Page 2 Installation STEP 2: Mount the Fence-Alarm On the back of the monitor is a built in mounting bracket. Face the solar panel due south (in the Northern Hemisphere), out of the way of trees, buildings, and other objects that will cast a shadow on it during the day. Do not mount your fence monitor on the ground. T-Post – This is the common mounting means. Slide the back of the monitor over the top of the t-post and the mounting is done. Round wooden post – First, put a large headed nail into the post. Next, carefully slide the nail head into the slot on the back of the monitor. Lastly, use the center hole in the monitor’s handle and a small head nail to better secure your monitor. Wooden wall – If you have a flat wooden wall that faces south and gets sunlight all day, then you can use 2-3 nails in the holes in the monitor’s handle to mount this on a flat wall. - Page 4 InstallatIon (Cont.) Page 3 Installation steP 3: Connect the fence hot (red knob) terminal note: Ensure your electric fence energizer is switched OFF before making this connection. 1. Refer to the red fence terminal knob on the front/bottom of the Fence-Alarm unit. This is the red knob that is marked with a small lightning bolt on the front label. 2. Unscrew the red fence terminal knob. Place the red wire’s ring terminal over the stud and replace knob. 3. Remove one wing nut from the clamp twin plate and place it over your fence’s hot conductor. Put the ring terminal of the red wire over the stud and replace and tighten the wing nut. CAUTION: Only hand-tighten the fence terminal knobs on the monitor. If the Fence Alarm is not attempting to connect to the network or has a low battery the monitor will flash the color of the condition from the last connection attempt. For example, if the last attempt was successful in connecting to the Fence-Alarm network via data mode the light will be flashing green. If no fence pulse is being detected by the monitor it will still indicate the last condition, but at a rate of once every 3 seconds. 2. Once a day or any time the unit is powered on the monitor will receive the threshold settings from the Fence-Alarm network. So if you update your threshold setting via the web, texting or the app it could take up to 1 day for the new threshold setting to be received. If you need the threshold setting to be updated immediately turn the monitor’s power off and then back on. BatteRY CHaRgIng Page 6 WaRnIng: Do not charge battery with a 12V automobile battery charger as this will damage the battery. Only a 6V lead acid rechargeable battery charger, or the solar panel, can be used. Ensure the switch is in the OFF position, and mount the monitor on a post, facing SOUTH for maximum sunlight throughout the day. (The 6-volt battery comes pre-installed and preconnected so no terminal connection is needed). Put the monitor’s switch in the CHARGE position, and allow it to fully charge for 3-4 days to ensure the battery is fully charged before you begin to use the monitor. After each day you can test your battery voltage, and if it is 6V or higher, then your battery is fully charged. Your 6V battery has an average life of a couple years. BatteRY RePlaCeMent The solar monitor battery is pre-installed and already tested and connected from the factory. The easiest way to charge the 6V battery is to follow the battery charging instructions using the sunlight. If you put the charger in full sun for 5 days, and the battery voltage is still under 5.75V, then you may need to replace the battery. You should only have to do this after a couple years of use. To replace the battery refer to the following drawings. Remove the battery door, slide the battery door in the direction of the arrow, and remove it. Carefully disconnect the red and black wires (Hold onto the connector). Replace it with another 6V, 4.5Ah sealed lead acid rechargeable battery. Carefully connect the red wire to the red (+) battery terminal and the black wire to the black (-) battery terminal, or damage may result. Put the battery in the compartment, put it back into the monitor, and tighten the screw. IMPoRtant: Save these instructions and the quick start registration sheet for future reference. - Page 8 1. Before returning product under warranty, you must call Farm Alert LLC at, 2. 844.FNC.ALRM (844.362.2576) to obtain a Return Goods Authorization number and a shipping address for the service center that will process the return. The RGA number must accompany the returned product. 3. Attach a note showing your name, phone number, return address and brief description of the problem. 4. Pack product carefully in oversized carton with crushed newspaper for cushioning. 5. Your product should be shipped prepaid and insured against shipping loss or damage. InstalaCIón PágIna Instalación Paso 1: asegurar la señal celular en el lugar de montaje de la cerca. 1. Tome el monitor a un área de manera que quede mirando al Sur con una buena cobertura de luz solar. Ponga el interruptor del monitor en la posición de Encendido. Por cerca de 3 segundos el monitor mostrará secuencias de encendido de las luces roja, verde y azul, entonces intentará conectarse a la red celular. Conexión a la red: El monitor parpadeará blanco indicando que está intentando conectarse a la red celular (La cantidad de tiempo que tarda en conectarse a la red puede variar dependiendo de la ubicación). no hay señal celular: Si después de intentar conectarse a la red la luz empieza a parpadear de color rojo indica que el monitor no ha podido encontrar una señal de celular. El monitor intentará periódicamente volver a conectarse y localizar una señal. Si después de varios intentos no encuentra una señal, debe encontrar una ubicación diferente o puede ponerse en contacto con nuestro servicio al cliente para determinar si el servicio celular está disponible en su área. Buena conexión de red: Si después de intentar conectarse a la red la luz empieza a parpadear verde, esto indica que el monitor se ha conectado correctamente a la red de la Alarma de Cerca y está listo para ser montado (Ver las instrucciones en el Paso 2). - Page 11 InstalaCIón (Cont.) PágIna Instalación Paso 2: Montaje de la alarma de Cerca En la parte posterior del monitor existe un soporte de montaje incorporado. Colocar el panel solar de cara al Sur (en el Hemisferio Norte), fuera del camino de árboles, edificios y otros objetos que puedan proyectar una sombra sobre éste durante el día. No instale su monitor en el suelo. Poste-T – Este es un medio común de montaje. Deslice la parte posterior del monitor en la parte superior del Post-T y el montaje estará listo. Poste redondo de madera – En primer lugar, ponga un clavo de cabeza grande contra el poste. A continuación deslice con cuidado la cabeza del clavo en la ranura en la parte posterior del monitor. Por último, utilice el orificio central de la manija del monitor y un clavo de cabeza pequeña para asegurar mejor su monitor. Si la Alarma de la Cerca no está intentando conectar a la red o tiene batería baja, el monitor parpadeará el color de la condición del último intento de conexión. Por ejemplo, si el último intento fue exitoso en su conexión a la red de la Alarma de la ceca a través del modo Datos, la luz parpadeará en verde. Si el monitor no detecta un pulso cerca este seguirá indicando la última condición pero a un ritmo de una vez cada 3 segundos 2. Una vez al día o en cualquier momento el monitor de la unidad se encenderá y recibirá la configuración de umbral de la red de Alarma de la Cerca. Solo se puede utilizar un cargador de batería recargable de plomo-acido de 6V, o el panel solar. Asegúrese de que el interruptor está en la posición OFF, y monte el monitor en un poste, mirando al SUR para obtener la máxima luz solar durante todo el día. (La batería de 6 voltios viene pre-instalada y por lo tanto no se necesita ninguna conexión del terminal).
