    About the Chair Chair Description The MedSource Stair Chair is an emergency patient-handling device designed to transport a patient in a seated position. The Stair Chair is for professional use by a minimum of two trained operators. It is recommended that additional help is to be used on stairs and with heavy patients.

    DO NOT restrain the patient with alternate materials such as gauze, tape or elastic bandages that may interfere with chair operation. Should the patient have an injury that makes using a MedSource Stair Chair impractical, use a MedSource Scoop Stretcher, backboard, or cot in-lieu of the Stair Chair.

    Provide verbal cues to help guide the operator up of down the stairs. Maintaining the Stair Chair Maintenance Schedule The MedSource Stair Chair requires regular maintenance. It is advised that the owner/ users set up and follow a maintenance schedule and keep maintenance records.

  • Page 11 How to use the Fixation Device WARNING Improper use of the xation device can cause injury or harm. Please follow the directions outlined in the user manual. Open the front panel of the xation device. Place the lower portion of the folded Stair Chair into the device, making sure that the wheel axle is aligned with the notches on the Stair Chair.
