As with most tools and pocket knives, several blades have sharp edges or points. Be extremely careful not to cut or pinch yourself with blades or handles when opening, closing or using your multi-tool. Features for the Crunch are listed below.
Crunch (see Drawing A): | |
1. Locking Pliers | 8. Large Screwdriver |
2. Wire Cutters | 9. Phillips Screwdriver |
3. Hard-Wire Cutters | 10. Ruler (inch/cm) |
4. Serrated Knife | 11. Bottle Opener |
5. Wood/Metal File | 12. Hex Bit Driver |
6. Small Screwdriver | 13. Wire Stripper |
7. Medium Screwdriver | 14. Lanyard Ring |
From the closed position, grip each handle and swing them fully apart, exposing the plier jaws. (Drawings B & C)
Grasp the pliers and rotate them out from the handle completely. (Drawing D)
Grasp both halves of the plier jaws and squeeze them together with one hand. Use the other hand to connect the movable handle to the dimple in the base of the jaw. (Drawing E)
Refer to Drawing E for:
Press the end of the handle into the base of the plier jaws until you hear and feel the "click" connecting the two.
Remember to hold the plier jaws closed with one hand. Make sure the handle clicks into the plier jaw to ensure a proper connection.
To unlock the jaws from a gripped object, grip the end of each handle and spread the handles apart.
To close the tool, grip the end of the handles and rotate them until the movable handle disengages from the movable jaw. Rotate the jaws back into the fixed handle. Swing the movable handle over the jaws. Push the handle forward and shut the handles together. This is the reverse of the procedure shown in Drawings B through E.
To open interior blades, partially open the handles. Use the nail nick to rotate blades out. The blades must be fully extended to engage the lock. When using blades, always work with the handles closed to avoid injury.
To release a locked blade, push the lock release located on the outside of the handle. The blade can then be folded back inside the handle.
The regular and hard-wire cutters are located in the plier jaws. The hard-wire cutter is the small notch at the base of the wire cutting area. The regular wire cutters should be used for softer grades of wire only. To prevent damage, hardened wire such as fish hooks should be cut with the hard-wire cutters only. (Drawing G)
The wire stripper is the groove located on the wire-stripper strut. (Drawing H)
To use, hold the tool so the handle with the lock release is on your right. Open this handle wide enough to move it away from the wire-stripper strut. Insert the wire into the groove and gently close the handle to cut through the outer insulation of the wire. Twist and pull the wire to strip (see drawing located on wire-stripper strut).
The hex bit adapter can be accessed by removing the adjusting screw from the end of the handle. Any 1/4" hex bit can be inserted into the opening. The bit is held in place by a spring-retention system.
When sharpening the serrated knife blade, be sure to use a sharpening system designed to accommodate serrations. This will ensure that proper curvature of the serrations and the cutting effectiveness of the blade are maintained.
The Crunch is 100% high-grade stainless steel. No steel is truly "stainless." It is actually "corrosion-resisting steel," and corrosion can occur if not properly maintained.
Your Crunch multi-tool should be cleaned, dried and reoiled periodically, especially after use in a damp environment. After cleaning, re-oil pivoting areas with a light machine or penetrating type oil.
